I'm planning on getting a new build soon, but I'm limited to about $650. I've done a ton of research and I think I have the best possible rig for the money. Hardware is as follows.
Mobo-
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX All Solid Capacitor Intel Motherboard
$89.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128059
I've heard many good things about this board, especially overclockability (is that a word?)
Case-
Sunbeam Transformer IC-TR-BA Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case
$75.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811166004
I've read many cooling reviews about this case and it looks superb (looks cool too )
Graphics Card-
MSI NX8800GT 512M OC GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card
$216.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127329
This was the cheapest 8800gt I could find (one that i liked anyway). It's factory overclocked and I'm always a big fan of MSI
RAM-
A-DATA 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
$45.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211066
This ram is very cheap and from reviews I've read very good.
PSU-
COOLMAX CUG-700B ATX 12V( V.2.2) 700W Power Supply 115/ 230 V
$99.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817159058
I chose this PSU because it is a very decent wattage and it has 3 12v rails, should run my system stable for a quite a while. i also chose it because it is modular and wrapped
CPU-
Intel Pentium E2160 Allendale 1.8GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
$71.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116036
This CPU looked promising the first time I looked at the price. Dual core for under $100? Check. Also I've read amazing overclocking stories about this CPU, and when it's at 3.0ghz it beats some very expensive CPUs
HDD-
Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600AAJS 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
$49.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136075
Cheap, fairly large (for me).

I plan on using this system for moderately heavy gaming playing games such as CSS, CoD4, and Bioshock. What I'm most interested is how hard it will pwn my current system.
Current system:
AGP X1650 512 IceQ Graphics Card
Celeron D @2.8ghz
1.5g DDR400 RAM
LGA775 mATX Mobo
It's obviously going to do a lot better, but I'm curious as to see how much better. Right now on my 19" widescreen at 1440x900, I'm running CoD4 at almost constant 40 fps. I'm exited to see how much of an improvement this will yield.
