(new to overclocking) Do i need to enable xmp to overclock my cpu?

hi im really new to overclocking and in all the tutorial videos i watch they alll say to enable xmp before overclocking the actual cpu and i cant enable xmp because my mobo doesnt support the frequency

no XMP is for making ram go faster if it can i.e. : all ram start at 2133Mhz, but if it a 2666 it will only get to that speed with XMP on.
you can overclock a pc with the need for xmp if your ram is 2133 xmp on or off will have no increase on its speed anyways, but if your ram is faster than 2133 then I suggest you leave XMP to get best possible speed.
