lol, basically i have the new top banner mixed with the old main page. so my name is the new style with the mouse over menu and the top red links banner is the new one for me. the rest is still old school.

i'd screenshot it but no idea where to upload it so you can see i'm only partially nuts.

I've got a new front page as well. Odd they are rolling it out with the Community guys at E3 for the rest of the week. We have an intern and a brand new intern at that as a contact point all week.

That being said, it looks great and I like it..

I'm seeing the new one as well.

Think of it like this:
Windows 7 look.
Then the utter WTF? look of Windows 8.
Then pull back most of that look with Win 8.1.

Not much different than earlier, and a LOT of people won't even notice.
The all upper case member name at the top right is still there...🙁

Overall, I like it. Will need more investigation, though.

yah i did not notice right away, took a while for the mix to just not look right. then it hit me that i was looking at the old format but the new top part. subtle change is sometimes a good thing. by the time some realize it is different, they will already be used to it.

i'm ok with it and have not run into any issues yet with it. everything seems to be working for me so far. still clicking everything to see what happens.

Actually we migrated the entire site, minus the forums and home page, to a new platform. All of the underlying pages have design changes to them. Then we moved the old style home page to the new platform and a couple of very minor things changed on the home page (mostly just the images for Best Picks I think). The developers and designers are still working on the home page design due to all of the great feedback we've gotten here.

good to know. thanks for clearing that up. so we can expect a new home page still and this is just a temp one until changes are done.

when you get to the forum, i got a few things that really bug me as i am sure some others do as well :)

like turkey noted, i am noticing that i am now showing as logged out on the main page but still logged in anywhere else on the site. just started and don't know if it is a bug that needs to be worked out or just a symptom of the temp page they put together for now.

Math Geek are you still having this issue? Have you tried logging out and logging back in? I just want to make sure, before I report this, that it's an actual issue. I am not seeing it myself.

Mine keeps switching to showing me not logged in, then goes straight in when I click log in, and I haven't saved the username and password.

Also getting intermittent caching/cookie or some problem where I keep getting the same forum live feed results. Then I have to select page 2 and it takes a long time to come up, but then starts working during this browser session.

Still trying to narrow down the conditions under which it happens.

i logged out, restarted my browser and cleared the cache of at the main page while logged out. logging back in and then either closing my browser or navigating away from tom's and the coming back yields the homepage showing me as logged out. but i am still logged in anywhere else on site. on the left is what it looks like when i first load the homepage and the right is after i manually tell it to log in. notice it is not even an up to date page as the forum feed and recent articles are not up to date as it is when i am shown as logged in.

totally old version shown on the left and newer style on the right as well.

One thing I also hate is with the bigger headlines, less room making finding anything harder to find.

Used to always be able to see the latest "Best cards for the Money" to take a peek at the Heirarchy chart ... now I have to resort to a site search which brought up only a 2015 and 2010 article on the 1st page of 'hits".

Well, it's linked in bold directly under the first paragraph of the "Best Graphics Cards" article, and linked again at the bottom of it. The link also does not change, so you are welcome to bookmark it :)

Yes I know... your telling me to turn onto Maple street and it's the 2nd house on the right to deliver the package, without telling me the state and town in which I can find the right Maple Street

Its the "Best Graphics Cards" article that doesn't come up in the 1st place.

Mighta done that bookmark if I known they were going to make finding the article so difficult.

Starting here

http://www.tomshardware.com/t/graphics/page-1.html

How many clicks do I need to do to get to the page that has the article ? used to be 1 or 2 tops.... now I worry about RSI.

Using the search function on "Best Graphics Cards 2016" ... I know have sponsored links at the top, followed by

http://www.tomshardware.com/s/Best+Graphics+Cards+2016/

nothing useful on the 1st page ...

clicking on articles ... nothing on 1st page
clicking on date ... nothing on 1st page
clicking on last month ... nothing on 1st page
clicking on last year ... finally get the article ... and now ONLY after all this effort can I do what I always did and what you suggested.

It's not finding the link on the article page ... it's getting to the article in the 1st place. Way too much effort

And I joined the current forum in 2004 and had been a user / lurker for quite sometime before.

Ah, I see. Your initial post did not quite make that clear. In that case, your difficulties with the search is more tied to your use of an outdated article title; a search for "Best Graphics" turns up the article immediately. What I previously said about the link remains true as well; it does not change, so you are welcome to bookmark it.

I do understand your point, but this will be a nonissue with the new front page design. We're currently in a weird limbo phase where the old/existing design is layered on top of some elements of the new design due to the platform migration. This is not permanent, and it will be transitioned over to a new design once it's ready.
