Hello, so basically the problem here is that until yesterday I usually had around 9 ping with very few lag spikes (I do use ETHERNET), but yesterday for some reason my ping started to spike i thought nothing of it but it wouldnt drop, so i restarted my PC and it went back to 9 ping, then it would spike again 10/15 mins into a gaming session and sometimes when it stops spiking in the 1000s it would come back and sit at 40/50/60ping for the rest of the day not my normal 9/10 ping. This has forced me to leave many competitive games, in Valorant, and be temporarily banned.

I have tried network reset, turning my router on and off, rebooting my pc with certain services disabled. This also isn't a Valorant problem because whenever I do suffer from high ping i go into the cmd and do the ping test (ping -t google.com) and it gives me the same ping as in game (even when valorant is closed). I don't believe I have anything updating in the background I have checked. I have done everything except contact my broadband provider. I know this not a limited bandwith issue because the number of devices has not changed and I had perfectly fine ping the whole time I've had this PC using ethernet.

At this point I've given up searching for issues online, because mine is not a simple lag spike that is there for a bit, my ping will spike from 9 to 800/900/1000 then after the spike will sit at 40ms instead of going back down to the initial 9ms. And this morning I thought the issue was fixed when I got into a game and the first 10mins ping was sitting at 9ms comfortably before the same issue occuring again.

If anyone has had a similar issue or knows any solutions that I could try please help me. Thank you.

EDIT: I also tried changing my DNS to 8.8.8.8 same issue occured, did nothing to help.

Make and model modem? Make and model router (or modem/router if combined)?

Three things to do:

1) Run "ipconfig /all" (without quotes) via the Command Prompt and post the results.

2) Run "pathping" targeting Google.

3) Run "tracert" targeting Google.

It make take a few minutes for the commands to run and finish.

Post the results. You should be able to copy and paste the results with no need to retype everything.
