Hi,

I'm quite new to motion design (and to the forum) and want to upgrade my 5-year-old laptop to a new workstation that can handle a good performance with after effects and at least a basic/good performance on 3d software like Cinema 4d or Blender.
I got specs advice from a friend based on my budget and wanted to know if you guys think these are good enough for what I'm looking for. Any advice would be much appreciated.
I now I can get far better with these but my budget is around here.

Thank You!

AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
Corsair DDR 4 32G (16X2)cl16
Samsung SSD 500GB
Seagate HDD 1TB 64mb SATA3
Gigabyte Geforce RTX 2070 8gb

The determining factor is the software apps that you wish to run.

Most software lists specific hardware requirements in some form of "minimal", "recommended", and "best".

You do not want "minimal" and you want as much "best" as you can afford.

If the specs are very generic or vague, contact the software vendor.

E.g., Cinema 4's website did not seem very helpful. So I started looking for computer's built for 3D design use.

Note the three "builds".

Doing roughly the same research for Blender:

Trade-offs: budget...

Trade-offs: budget, performance, planning for growth....

For the most part your specs appear to meet the requirements but do take a closer "check list" approach to confirm.

And do not forget the PSU. Wattage and quality are important.
