Couple of XP newbie questions. I've just installed XP for the first time. Everything seems to work fine.

Should I update the drivers for the Video and sound even though everything appears to work? The O/S recognizes by name what the video and sound cards are.

Under 98SE, one of the first things I'd do is update the drivers, but is it needed under XP?

Lead me not into temptation. I can get there myself.

For video, yes. I'm guessing you're using a Nvidia card, and the XP drivers it uses are 14.xx. They're old.

For sound, maybe. Depends on what you have.

Anytime you instal an OS you should update the drivers. The drivers that get installed on the original installation is whatever version was out when the OS was created. The same applies to installation CDs that come with hardware. Always look online to see what newer versions are availible.
