Nf980 hd audio or ac97

So i have a haf 932 case with a msi nf980 board. I've installed both ac97 drivers and realtek hd audio drivers. I've tried plugging both hd audio and ac97 cables in the "JAUD1" section of my board (for front I/O audio) and nothing works. When I go into vent I still get errors:

Unable to activate DirectSound for selected device.
DirectSoundCaptureCreate failed. HR=DSERR_NODRIVER. No sound driver is available for use

I most definitely have sound drivers though..

take it back... I decided to try the one on the disc and it worked. yes im an idiot
