Question NHL 2001 for PC no longer working! (DirectX 7)

NHL 2001 is one of the best hockey video games around! One day I decided I wanted to play against the AI in a 20 minute match. Previously it was working as I would want to game once or twice a month.

I then get an error message which reads: "You do not have Directx7. Please install Directx 7.Could not load (null)"

My gaming PC is as follows...it's old.

Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit
Intel Core i7 870
8 GB of 1333 MHz RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 750 ti (2 GB of video memory)
2 SATA III SSD drives
- already tried installing a DirectX package from a microsoft link, but that did not solve the problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm not too great with computers.

Any other games having issues? You updated your video drivers lately?

few things i found,

Try running the NHL.exe from the install folder not the shortcut or auto run with cd.
Try re-running the EASports 3Dsetup executable
