Info Nice Clear Panel Case Mod For Dell Optiplex Machines (3010, 7010, 9010, 9020, etc.)

TG is a diamond. Very strong, but relatively brittle, easily shattered. And unlike a car windshield, it's single pane not dual with a layer of acrylic stuck between the layers.

So when it shatters, it goes 'boom', and everywhere. There's a reason why a single panel of TG can easily cost $100 to replace or manufacture.

It's not as easy as it looks.

Thought I'd post this video to a pretty nice Case Mod I came across when looking for a way to add a glass side panel to my modded Dell 9020 machine...

Doesn't look very difficult, and the results are outstanding...

Enjoy...!

This was the only video I could find showing this technique so I tried it. It came out pretty well except I wish I had noticed in the video how much the power supply unit and DVD bay slots block the top part view, so I would have just cut all the way across in the middle in a straight line. I also used Gorilla clear grip glue to attach the plexiglass to the frame, instead of trusting tape. Tape wears and won't last long if there is a lot of heat build-up inside. Since one of the ventilation areas got cut out with the side piece, I'm going to add an RGB fan to the lower front of the case, and replace the two fans in it with RGB fans.
