nLite and beyond

Has anyone used this to create a customer XP installation? I've slipstreamed SP2, made the installation unattended, added Catalyst drivers, and added Drivers for my 2005fpw. Most of it I did with Nlite, the additional drivers I did by hand by editing the winnt.sif file

What I'm struggling with is adding applications since I am burning this to a DVD and have plenty of room. I really don't know how to do the runonceex.cmd stuff let alone the cleanup and other options.

Since I haven't actually tested anything yet I'm not sure how to set up an unattended installation when I am going to need to format my C: partition etc and don't want to lose anything on my D: or E:.

There are so many possibilities so someone out there hopefully has done this and I can grab some of your code for the runonceex.cmd stuff as well as the locations of where to put files.

DH I read some of the link you provided and that seems like a good project if you are going to do a lot of installs.
However it seems a bit much to go through just for the occasional need to do a new install. It would be a great learning experience though.
I think that I would use rewritable Cd's until I got it right though hee hee.

I tried it once, but that level of customization isn't worth it. Drivers change too frequently.

However, I do use unattended install CD's everytime I install XP. I just open the answerfile, change the CD Key, admin pass ect and burn the CD.

I admit it's a bit of work since the guys at that forum are socially retarded. I've never seen a forum like that before where they talk in circles, link to another link to another link, tell you to search for another link where they tell you to search or they talk in circles, and in the end you're still confused when all they had to do was give you one line of code. When someone tries to create a thread with all the different programs and the appropriate code they berate them.

Nonetheless, I found this to be very convienient today and it installed a handfull of apps and most of my drivers no problem. I'm still fine tuning it. Either way I figure the time I've put into it is time I'll save later. You just stick the CD in, reboot, pick a partition, eat dinner, and when you come back it's done.
