I bought a motherboard for my i5 3570 and it was a dell optiplex board. All it has are 5 pin fan ports and I only have the intel push pin 4 pin fan coolers. Ideally I just want an adapter or even fan port that has that 5 pin port on the end. Does anyone know of such a thing? I cannot find a single adapter that's 4-5. Everything I've looked at is all 5-4. Thanks.

That will allow you to use a standard fan with an Optiplex motherboard. I have an Optiplex motherboard, and that's what I would need to use if I wanted to switch cpu or system fans.
You don't even need an adapter if you're a bit handy as you can switch the pins in the connector:

the cheapest solution is to just use the Dell hsf and cooler as I've gotten mine for as cheap as $6 shipped on ebay:

I was going to buy one of the adapters to replace the system fan with something better than stock, but the system fan is mounted in such a way as it seems impossible to remove without breaking the mounting hardware, which are rubber post things. Maybe I still will now, and just use screws for the new one. Forgot I could just repin the plug with something like a fan, which saves me some money, I'm so used to buying all kinds of adapters for my Optiplex.

You would be surprised how good the stock coolers are in the optiplex. I regularly run 95w processors on the coolers that are supposed to be for 65w, and I can only image what type of tdp the 95w ones I have could take. I wouldn't mess with 'upgrading' the cooler. You can't overclock anyways so why bother?
