Upgraded my graphics card from 1060 to 2060, sound output coming from monitor was previously working before installing new graphics card. I have tried using DDU to uninstall and reinstall drivers checked that its not disabled in Nvidia control panel and windows driver settings. Also monitor shows up in devices in windows and can be selected it just plays no sound, have tried different HDMI cords and even using DVI still no luck, DDU was also used when I installed the new graphics card.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
Motherboard: ASROCK B450M Steel Legend
Ram: 16 GB DDR4
GPU: Nvidia Geforce 2060 RTX 6gb
Monitor: Samsung Odyssey G50A

Try installing Geforce driver manually if you're using Nvidia app/Geforce Experience to install for you and make sure audio components is selected to be installed. Then make sure audio playback devices in Windows is set to monitor as default. I suspect it's either of these two.

thanks for the quick reply I used DDU to uninstall the drivers and completed a manual install and made sure its set as default still no luck with sound. I wonder if it could be the newest drivers causing the issue maybe I should try installing a older driver?

there is a few possible solutions..
1. completely uninstall nvidia drivers (following the "DDU" method.
2, download nvidia display 1.4 driver (this can solve the sound driver issue),if it says already installed .. its not that ..
3. get a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack lead. and run if from sound on back of pc. to the socket on the monitor. ..
but this should not be needed with HDMI cable being used.

.. if you plug the cables into onboard graphics(if you have that) do you get sound then> if so it could be your monitor needs its drivers updated (you would have to check monitors site for that). if it does not work.. then it might be an issue with your new graphics card..

the last option,, is pull you cpu out and reseat it.. this has been a cause for many people before. i had this same issue with my old R5 2600. a few years back. and the reseating sorted it,..

do you have the latest "audio" drivers for your motherboard. ?

when pc is on and in windows... do you get the "volume control" icon on the bottom right of the screen.. ? does it show the sound bars coming out of it. or is it "X" out(greyed out).

RIGHT click the sound icon., click "sound settings. then click.. "where to play sound and see if there is option for monitor , speaker, etc and try all and see if 1 works..

I get the volume control it even displays the bar like there is sound coming out and by motherboard sound drivers you mean realtek? if so yes they are current and updated also my speakers and headphones work.

if speakers are connected to the audio jack you need to select line out in the monitor toggle

  • Access your monitor's on-screen display (OSD) menu.

  • Navigate to the "Sound" or "Audio" settings.

  • Verify that the audio output is enabled and set to "Headphone" or "Line Out
also you may want to search for nvidia control panel and go into audio threw there.
