No boot after memory upgrade long continuos beep

Hello,

I recently have memory go bad any had to replace 2 of my 4 stick....I had corsiarx2 dominators 1gig each xms2-6400 800 nhz 4-4-4-12 2.10v (original memory ) added 2 (2gig)crucial pc-6400 memory about 3YRS ago (these are the 2 that went bad one right after the other ... machine was still functioned properly but very slow with just the original 2 corsairs... i have now purchased 2 (2gig each) corsair xms2 5-5-5-18 pc-6400 800 mhg 1.8v and added these to the the machine ....machine will not boot ...long continuous beep no splash screen but all fans and such are on .. if i remove 1 stick of memory from the four that are in there machine boots fine....
I have removed all of the memory and booted the machine one stick at a time and in all in all slots one at a time memory all worked and machine booted fine....... the minute i use the 4 sticks together no go

if i need to change memory setting i will need some guidance on doing so. there is a cmos reset and clear button on my MB asus striker extreme should i do this and will it create other thing that i have to do because i cleared the cmos

any help for this is appreciated

Sorry, after you've tried that ....
Use one stick (New RAM) with the BIOS at defaults, and test it in Slot One. See if it boots and shows up in the BIOS.
Check all 4 new sticks like that, one at a time. If all of them show up correctly.
Use 2 Sticks in the same colored slots, first the Blue ones and then the same set in the white ones. See which colors works fine.
If the set of 2 work fine on both the blue and the white slots, exchange the RAM for the other 2 and try the same thing again.
If they work fine too
Then Insert the 4 RAMs together and give it a shot.
Please make sure that while you do all this , you have not changed any settings in the BIOS , especially when it comes to RAM or CPU timings and current.

2 first things i saw were

the first ram was 4.4.4.12, and a voltage of 2.1V
then the new stuff was 5.5.5.18 with the voltage of 1.8

have you tried just the new corsair ram? if it worked then its probaly a compatibility issue

the 2 sticks of new ram alone will run just fine and if i put 1 stick of the old ...still runs fine.... as soon as i put in second old stick will not boot.. is that second old stick sending it over the edge?

You cannot possibly put RAM sticks of different voltage into a PC. It'll end up killing one stick after the other over a period of time, if it works together in the first place.

Get rid of the mess, just stick to one model RAM. And it'll work fine. Just make sure that everything in the BIOS is set to Auto as far as the CPU and RAM are concerned.

Ok Alyoshka I cleaned the mess just like you said and here is whats going on. i purchase 2 more identical sticks of memory and put the 2 new stick in and BEEEEEPPPPPPPPP 1 continuious one not a screaming one i again swapped out the memory put them in one at a time in all the different slot to make sure each stick was good and each memory slot was good all was good.

as long as I only put 3 sticks of memory in the machine it works fine the minute iI out the fourth one in no boot post beep just one long beep. this happens in all slot to memory positions rearranged all the memory in all the differnt slots all works with 3 sticl doesnt work with 4 stick .....im at a loss

After inserting the new sticks of RAM or Before inserting them, did you clear the BIOS and set it to defaults?
If no, then do it and then give it a try. If it still doesn't work go to http://in.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/Striker_Extreme/#download

Download the last BIOS which happens to be Striker Extreme BIOS 2002.
Update it using asus bios update tool from within windows itself.
Then try again, with all four sticks of RAM.

Also check which BIOS you are using presently and let us know.

im unsure how to cleas bios can i just go into setup and restore defaults

and i dont have a asus bios update tool either

i followed your link and this is ok for win 7 ( the machine orig had vista) I upgraded

Yeah, I saw that too.
I'll Tell you how to go about it.
Download the BIOS 2002 from the link I sent you.
If you're using 32 Bit Win7 choose 32 Bit Vista from the select options, if you're using 64Bit Win7 choose 64Bit Vista from the Select OS.

Download the BIOS 2002 from the link I sent you.
Save to HDD. Unzip or Unrar into a separate new folder call it whatever you like but remember where it is and what name it is.

Then download ASUS Update V7.10.05 Install Program for Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista & Windows 64bit XP/2003/Vista. From the BIOS Utilities.
Save to HDD again. Unzip/unrar and install.
Then run it.
It will ask you if you want to update the BIOS from the Internet or from a File, chose file. You will then be asked to browse to the location of the BIOS where you had saved it, browse to that folder where the uncompressed BIOS file has been saved. Select it, it will then show you whether the BIOS is new or older than the version you have, continue/next.
Don't do anything when the BIOS flashing process is on, it will show you, erasing rom, checking rom, flashing rom and basically it'll do it job.
After that it's going to ask you for a reboot.
Reboot into BIOS, and see if the 2002 version has be flashed.
Then save and exit without messing with the setting.
Boot into windows.... check again with the Update tool , there is an information about current BIOS tab there. If it shows the new BIOS, you are good to go.
Shutdown rig.
Insert all the sticks of RAM.
Boot into BIOS and see if all the RAM shows up there at it's default timings.
Save and exit.
Boot into windows and see if the RAM shows up there too.

did all that yous said in the same way explained machine would not boot nothing just ran and ran i gave it 10 min never rebooted so i shut it off and now just beeps continuously all the memory in or out again checked each stick just beeped took all the new memory out and put in 2 old sticks that were in the machine........boots fine i did check the bios it shows it was updated to 2002..

so now i have a new bios that dosent like the new memory at all

ok i put sticks in #1 slot all booted Machine right up except for 1....... I got a bad stick from new egg?? Is this possible or did I do something.. I think ill be able to use the 3 of the 4 for now gonna call new egg

On off subject because you know my equipment. I originally had 2 gt8800 ultras in this rig during this memory issue I found out one card was bad( that prob explains alot of BSOD for quite along time like years) any way im running on the one good on right now might you have a suggest on what might be a excellent to super card to get ? someone suggested the 530ti 448 your thoughts??

I'd go for a 560Ti...... actually 2 of them..... they seem to be the top of the line right now and have somehow over performed the expectations of the people. If the dough is right, it's a great set to go for.
But if you're looking to upgrade the rig, then no...... Wait a while, get a good new mobo, some greater RAM and the perfect processor and the two cards...... now that's a big plunge into the pockets.
