No connection to Sony camcoder by firewire?

Hi,
I got a new computer with windowsXP and with an firewire port. I have
connected my camera SonyTrv900E to it with firewire and I try to capture
movie to the computer by using Windows Movie Maker but the computer doesn't
find my camcoder? The same happens when I try to capture via Premiere 6.0.

I suppose I don't need any capture card or software? Do I?
Any suggestions?

Hello

No you need to make sure that you install the correct driver
for your sony camera, that needs to be installed for your laptop
to see your devices.

Thanks för your reply! I guess this is a very common question, but how do I
do it? Install the correct driver?

I have worked with Pinnacle 500DV and Premiere6.0(windows98se and there I'm
able to select my camcoder that is attached.
Please help...I'm a beginner.. The firewire is working, if I check the
"controllpanel" (device?) OHCI- BUS CONTROLLER?
