Well, if you want to be able to use the power button for... well... turning off/on the power, then you should find where it needs to plug in. Have you looked in the MB's owner's manual for where the power switch goes to?
You'd want the fan to be running so it can keep your system cool. I have plugs on my motherboard for chassis fans, but I only use two of them (for variable control). The rest I plug into my power supply using a converter because I want them on continually. It depends on what you want.
Ive already connected the necessary connections for the power button (i.e. pwr sw, speaker, hdd led and reset), theres just an extra molex connector wiring form the where the power button is and I cant seem to find a fit for it, pretty much the same issue Im having with the case fan (which also has a molex connector wiring to the fan).
I wouldn't worry about it, then. Especially if the button and fan are working fine. I imagine that the extra connectors is for compatibility with different motherboards/power supplies. Mine came with a whole bunch of adapters for the pins and I needed to use two to convert from molex. Curious that yours had the different connectors already wired in.
I'd say that if your fan runs and the power button works, then don't worry. I stuffed my extra wires carefully in a corner with ties so they wouldn't tie up in a fan.
Unlike the power button, the fan itself isnt actually connected to anything since I cant find the appropriate connections, which then leads me to worry about the lack of an adequate airflow since thats the only fan I have so far thats attached to the case. Since I obviously cant connect the case with the mobo, the only other connection I can think of would be from the psu, but me being the amateur I am cant seem to find a fitting connection.
Reading what Im typing now has actually made me realise how unclear I was in the questions so my apologies for that
