As the title suggests, I have an A320M PRO-VD Plus mobo and i'm trying to install a RYZEN 5 3500 CPU. I have updated my mobo to the newest firmware available and I still can't get my PC to POST with the RYZEN 5 in. The PC boots fine with a Ryzen 3 in. There aren't any bent pins and the CPU is supposed to be compatible with my mobo as far as I know. Do you guys have any ideas?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

How did you manage to update the BIOS on your MSI A320M PRO-VD Plus board? As a side note, what do you mean by Ryzen 3? You should ideally list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

Which exact Ryzen 3 ?
Do you have a dedicated GPU ?

Thank you for the warm welcome! I apologize for not including enough information.

I flashed the bios by downloading the newest stable version from MSI's page (7B38v1E ) for my mobo then using my mobo's m-flash functionality to flash it to the board. Everything still works as long as I use my Ryzen 3 2200G. @DRagor said 7B38v1GM should work with my Ryzen 5 3500, so I'll try the closest version I can find to that: 7B38v1GV.

My specs are:
CPU: Ryzen 3 2200G
Motherboard: MSI A320M Pro-VD Plus
Ram: 1x 8GB DDR4
SSD/HDD: WD Blue 1TB
GPU: N/A
PSU: Apex SolyTech SL-F400 400W
OS: Windows 10

That is true - 1GM is not listed. You have to go to Compatibility section, find your 3500, and click on file name next to it (it will be listed as 1G but when you download it you see its 1GM).
I flashed the version you suggested, and I still don't get any display. However, the RGB on my mouse started working. It had only been working with the other CPU. I don't know if that means anything.

It should have more than enough power coming from that PSU, right?

So now your new CPU is recognized. But you will not get display without GPU on this CPU (as CountMike already suggested). 2200G had integrated graphics so GPU was not needed but 3500 does not have it.

Oh! I didn't have my GPU in because I thought that would simplify things. My problem has been solved. Thanks, guys!
