I just installed a msi 1070 ti into my system and when i booted all was fine except no I have no sound and don't even have a realtek device in the sound settings or device manager the only ones I have are the Nvida outputs which are not plugged in.
Please help

Because you have allowed the Nvidia audio drivers to install, the 1070's HDMI port is now the default audio output and the previous Realtek audio via the 3.5mm sound jacks has been disabled.

How I fixed it was to remove Nvidia driver package completely.
Then begin Nvidia driver package install again, but this time choose Custom Install and deselect the audio drivers before continuing.

When completed, restart Windows and original sound should be working again.

These days there may be alternative ways to achieve this but I only know how I did it because it was the most obvious (ie I knew what was causing it).
