[citation][nom]chick0n[/nom]if they have no choice they will buy it, so u don't understand this simple but "stupid" logic? [/citation]

u forget choice number 3? THEY WONT GET IT.

To help reduce piracy, Capcom may need to abandon physical media and stick with digital distributors such as Valve's platform. However Ono said that would be unfair to PC gamers who don't have access to those digital outlets or means to purchase content online.

Digital distributing only is unfair but ditching the whole PC platform is fair?? Excellent logic there.

sorry to say that i 'tried' the original game before i bought it, dissapointed me and off my hard drive it went, the same day. and i generally buy my games. so if i had liked it i would have bought it. this to me just seems like slacking off on capcom's part. they made enough money already and can't seem to be bothered to market it for the pc when the game has already been off the radar for a while anyway. also why is the original release still 29.99 on steam when the local store price is 19.99? i mean if you want it to sell...

[citation][nom]chick0n[/nom]if they have no choice they will buy it, so u don't understand this simple but "stupid" logic? Pirates has killed a lot of good company, look at Sega and their Dreamcast, it was a really good console, it has really great games, but once some jackass found the "simple" way, put 3 lines of machine code to tell the system OS to just "skip this part, execute the files directly", Dreamcast's game sales totally disappeared and it ultimately killed the system. it was partly Sega's fault to let a big bug in the system software like this. but still in the end, it was killed by piracy. so don't give me crap like there is no connection between piracy and sales.[/citation]

a pirate generally doesn't give enough of a shit about a game to buy it. and in all honesty i see nothing wrong with pirates.

you have to remember how pcs evolved. at one time they has software rental stores, they said "dont copy that floppy" but they sold blank floppys right at the counter. block buster sells blank dvds and i believe blurays (yea they are dieing, but not because of piracy)

they bitch about piracy now, because its "easier than ever" but honestly, i believe it was easier back when floppy discs were rented and sold at the same place.

the bitch about piracy cutting into there sales. that also isnt true because the vast majority of pirates wouldnt buy it to begin with. and you have to look at online component, its not like they get a finished game, they get a half complete game.

and you have to look a the value of piracy also. take dragon age, where they had 5 different preorder bounoses and you had to buy the game multiple times to get the... piracy brought us all that preorder dlc stuff, and without the need to but the game 5 times. piracy has actually been used as a positive in that respect.

as another piracy positive, do you remember that old game you have, but it os scratched, broke, or someone decided to take a lighter to it and burn it because you got a D+ on your report card. normally you would have to buy it again, paying for something you already owned, but with piracy, i got a second coppy for free after the first one broke.

piracy can be as little of a moral grey area as you want it to be, or as illegal as it possibly can be depending on how you look at it.

[citation][nom]GNCD[/nom]Okaaaaaaaaaaay. I'll be playing this in the arcades.[/citation]
They still have those? I remember arcades when I was a kid. Last time I went to one the games were crappy compared to pc or even consoles.

Alright, is this guy a complete idiot? Look, I understand the point that "Piracy is killing PC gaming" even though I do not fully agree with that statement myself. However, he says: "that would be unfair to PC gamers who don't have access to those digital outlets or means to purchase content online."

I mean, is he retarded? How is giving PC gamers a way to purchase the game legally less fair that not giving us any chance at all? Sure, there will be a few that can't purchase via steam, but there are a whole lot more that won't get to purchase it if it's never released.

my sentiments exactly, my gtx480 is more powerful than an arcade game.

[citation][nom]Strider-Hiryu_79[/nom]In other news. Super Street Fighter IV runs well on my ps3 with my hori HRAP3 PRO-SA fighting stick.[/citation]
Inferior version. PS3 version has enough input lag to mess with tight links.

Easier to pirate XBOX/360 games than PC, and PS3 pirating is near. He needs to go back to business school and play less games. Somebody give this poor bastard PC too.

This is such a bullshit reason.

A) The majority of people who pirate games would not have purchased them in the first place, so they do not lose any more than a few percent of sale
B) Piracy on consoles is a HUGE problem, which everybody keeps sweeping under the rug and pretending it's not an issue.

I swear game makers realize that the PC gaming market is shrinking, while almost everybody owns a console, and is too cheap to have the game ported from the console version to the PC. This is just their excuse to do so.

They just announced that they will be released for PC few weeks ago... what's going on?

well not to bad i did like the game got it on steam. but how many times can they rename the same game and only get in 1 or 2 more playable character well i dont care i still play the iv Verson.

I don't fully trust the sincerity of companies that say they won't do something due to the piracy issue. Besides, it's seeming that these days, I'm seeing more people pirating games for consoles instead of for PC's.

If it does go ARCADE, some1 will dump it to MAME. Then we will likely see a version available over Kaillera (MAME with network support). Going THAT route ensures no sales, but nearly assures a PC presence via emulation.

Having a D3D port would at least give them something, although a cost-benefit analysis (based on logic that is incorrect in the real world) would likely keep the port from happening. I don't call that logic, illogic, supporting or being against piracy.

I call it reality.

Someone else mentioned using STEAM as a sales vector. Hmm.

"To help reduce piracy, Capcom may need to abandon physical media and stick with digital distributors such as Valve's platform. However Ono said that would be unfair to PC gamers who don't have access to those digital outlets or means to purchase content online."

I dont understand this statement. So since not all people would have access to steam, Dont make a game for the pc at all. SfIV can die already. I have better games to play.

Series producer Yoshinori Ono doesn't have plans to bring Super Street Fighter IV to the PC.

In response to the above statement: "PC gamers thank Yoshinori Ono for not bringing Super Street Fighter IV to the PC."

Never did consider fighting games when playing on the PC.

Game developers should really put more thought into what platform their game is more suited for. The main input device of a standard PC is a keyboard and mouse while you need a controller with a stick to be able to execute the combos properly in fighting games.

So indeed, this is no loss for PC gamers worldwide. I can always go to the local arcade if I really want to play SSF IV.

Riiight... this isn't about piracy, it's about maxing an excuse to have an intrusive "copy protection mechanism" on your system that just "happens" to "have" to know your personal details and also just "happens" to sell that personally identifying information for a profit.
Did I put enough quotes in?

[citation][nom]eklipz330[/nom]i wonder when they'll realize there is no correlation between piracy and sales... NOBODY has proof that if someone is unable to pirate something, they will buy it... what retarded logic[/citation]

On the other hand, you can't prove the opposite either. So you can't say there ISN'T a correlation. And yes, there is. I can't prove there's a huge one, no, but my friend often pirates games, but recently he kept getting bad torrents and cracks that didn't work on a game, so... Guess what! He bought the real version.

You can't PROVE either one, but the companies are going to go with the one that really is more likely. If there was zero piracy, there would almost definitely be at least a few more sales.
