I've recently installed Windows 11 on my PC. No problem there. I turned up my speaker, and I was hoping to hear my new Windows startup sound. Nothing! I could play sound on my speaker just fine, but every time I start/restart my PC, I still don't hear any frickin startup sound!

I've already gone through a few common fixes and still no luck. So these are the steps I've taken.

Step two was greyed out, so here is what I did.

(Step 1)
  1. I turned off/unchecked "fast startup" in Control Panel via Power Options

(Step 2)
I went into

  1. Settings > Personalization > Themes > Sounds
  2. Check the box next to "Play Windows Startup sound."
  3. Restarted my PC, and still no Startup sound.

I did these common fixes when I did my research, and it still did not fix my issue. So why won't my PC play my new Startup sound? PS. I never had Windows 10 Startup Sound.

Just an FYI, my Windows 11 testbed laptop 'usually' plays the sign on sound but it has missed playing it a couple times.
Not sure what causes the issue and this laptop is a 'white room' test system, fully compatible with Windows 11, and has no extraneous software installed.

In short, it's Windows 11, not you or your computer. ;)

I'm thinking so too going by other threads I've seen on the net
