Ok it has been a while since I built a new PC like before timings were an issue. So here is the question, this is for a new gaming machine that I am going to spend about 2k on with an X58 board, I7 and SLI'ed 460's

Is there a big difference between these 2 memory kits one is timed 8-8-8-24 and the other is timed 7-8-7-20
here they are
CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMX6GX3M3C1600C7 (7-8-7-20)
and
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8T-6GBRM

I am open to any and all advice on memory to use as well.

Thanks
Majja

Solution
If you aren't going to OC,then go with the cheaper one because timings doesn't make a noticeable difference in performance.
However if you are going to OC,then IMO its better to go with the Corsair one,it has better timings which is better for OC'ng.
