i have a 3770k and its using a geminii s524 cooler from collermaster with stock thermal. according to desktop bios from msi im getting around 32-39 celcius during web browsing is that normal? its on stock speeds but was ocd to 4.0 a day ago

on real temp im getting around 63 on the bios it goes to 64-65 with prime 95

Seems pretty high to me. I monitor my 3770K with the Asus AI Suite II which is generally pretty accurate, and at stock clock I get 27 degrees idle with room temp at 21 degrees, 40 degrees C using Prime95 large FFT, with a Zalman 9900 cooler. At 4GHz on all 4 cores, it goes up to 48 degrees C.

well your cooler might be better than mine

Zalmans are known for looking good, but mediocre on performance/price. But even if slightly better (which I seriously doubt, having used Zalman coolers before), that wouldn't explain such a large difference in temps. Was the 'stock thermal' compound one of those pre-applied deals, or included as a tube/bottle with the cooler? IOW, did you apply the compound before seating the cooler? I prefer to apply the compound myself, putting a small pea-sized amount on the IHS, spreading it out in a thin and even layer with a piece of plastic, then spread an even thinner layer on the bottom of the cooler. The idea is a thin-as-possible layer with no gaps.

I'd also check to make sure your fan speed on the cooler is adequate - mine is around 2700 rpm under load, which is still pretty quiet for a 120mm fan. Also, vcore is 1.02V at stock and idle.

Forgot to add - I use a Coolermaster HAF932 case, with huge 240mm fans top, front, back and side. More holes than metal 😛. So airflow through the case has never been a problem. Prolly not the problem, but it never hurts to make sure your cooler is exhausting towards the rear case fan (have seen some home builds where the cooler was installed backwards, blowing air to the front of the case).
