Hi,

Am placing this here, because I think the graphics card involved is just fine, otherwise I've posted it under "Graphic Cards".

I have a computer with MSI H61M-P31/W8 motherboard, windows 10 installed on the hdd.
I do not get display when I plug in a graphics card on the pcie port.
Graphics card is a Palit GTX1660 STORMX 6G GDDR5.

I checked if the graphics card malfunctions in another pc, works fine.
When I unplug the card and use onboard graphics, display comes up fine.
When I plug it it, the display stays black, the card is getting power, fan is turning.
I checked in bios, pcie is enabled.

I tried placing a different pcie card in the slot, gives the same thing, no display, fan turning on the card.

The problem occured since I replaced the hdd, I don't think I shorted anything, I'm always grounded before touching parts.

What else could I check or what could be the cause, am I overlooking something?
Could it be the power supply to the card not being enough? I did not yet try with a different psu because of the fan on the card turning.

Thing is, it was a preconfigured buy, in which before changing the hdd all worked with the present psu.
I can't imagine a different brand hdd would consume that much more power? Before it was a Hitachi 2TB, now it is a Seagate 2TB.

the psu is a Builder 600W.
cpu: I7-2600 3.4GHz
ram: 16GB DDR3

It is the psu that is insufficiant.
There are 4 giant fans in the case, with a BOX Rainbow 5P color controller unit, disconnected this one, put the graphics card in place, disply is coming up fine

Lol No the psu wont be the problem then. Fans consume plenty of power and four case fans is overkill For a 2600 and 1660 but my case came with three front fans and a rear but I have a 700W psu in that build. Make sure to watch your temps as you want at least one case fan blowing around your cpu or gpu that can work with your psu fan to give some good airflow. But with your current setup you should be okay. I’m glad you got your problem solved even if we couldn’t help you get it fixed. In my opinion there are two solutions to this problem. 1: A more powerful psu. 2: As you demonstrated, removing components that consume power. I dont get how 500W isn’t enough though, It might just be that you have a cheap psu. Anyway enjoy your pc if you have any other questions feel free to ask
