NTFS and Programs

I plan on upgrading from Windows 98(first edition) to windows XP. I would like to convert from fat32 to NTFS. I was wondering what effect this would have on the programs and games I have. As a gamer I would not wish to run into major compatablity problems by switching to NTFS. If some has more information on switching from fat32 to NTFS it would be welcomed.

Thank god for Toms Hardware Guide's Community. An ongoing example of brilliance and stupidity.

If you like your games I would hold off on upgrading for little. One I have installed XP on my kid’s computer and unable to run the driver for MS Steering Wheel so I am unable to use it with Monster Truck Madness 2. You could always install your game on a different hard drive that is still Fat32 and run the os on NTFS, just a thought!

XP gives you the option to keep the Partition Fat 3

I'm Dual booting XP and ME and both partitions are Fat 32
therefore allowing me to access both HD's from either OS.

I suggest you keep it Fat 32 if your not sure about NTFS
