Whether or not the new Nvidia cards being launched are competitive with ATi's solutions, at either price or performance, it's still exciting when a new card from either manufacturer is released.
The 5700Ultra will hopefully be everything most of us are predicting.

I help because you suck

Oh I agree. Even if they disappoint. New hardware is exactly that, Something NEW, especially when we keep seeing/saying the same thing over and over again.
Oh yeah in case I forgot to say it in a while; the Xabre Sux, Gigapuke Sux, PowerColor Sux, nV Sux, ATI Blows, and Matrox gives good Multi-Head, etc.

I really do hope that the FX5700 lives up to it's/our expectations. I was worried we had to wait 'til the NV40 to solve the issues, if this does it that would be GREAT for everyone IMO.

And like our theory went before, a good competitive product pushes each mfr to bring better stuff out, the potential R9600XT re-spin being the absolute perfect example if it is true.

I'm still going to wait for the PCI-EX cards, because despite the supposed 'low' performance in HALO, I'm very happy running at 1024x768, and all my other games run pretty smooth at 1280x1024, so there is no push right now to upgrade (although IBM does have a nice new thinkpad that's got me excited with planned MR9600PRO graphics and Mobility 1.8ghz (Centrino without the wi-fi [I already have SMC PCMCIA wifi cards [a and b}]). Oh yeah and they want $699CDN (UPGRADE from DVD combo) for a DVD burner (thank god for Firewire!)
Oops I strayed from graphics for a sec. Did I mention it's gonna have an MR9600Pro?

Anywhoo, here's hoping the FX5700U gives everyone something to cheer about.

Best part I might be able to finance it through work AT A DISCOUNT (an work pick's up 20% of the tab).
Currently they are just doing that with dell, but when I asked they said they are working on a deal for thinkpads (which alot of management use, and most of our desktops are IBMs)

But from what I've already seen it's likely to be about $5000CDN and that's alot. But we shall see. The G and R series are attractive and inexpensive, just waiting for a little more Oomph. If a G or an R ships with the MR9600P or MR9600 then I'll likely pull the trigger on one.
