If they come in at MSRP (or lower), I could see a 1050Ti in my future.
Some will, but it looks like they're going to populate a range of prices. Cable-equipped models with upgraded cooling and considerable binning/overclocking will command a decent premium.

...If the RX 470 was dropped to close to the price of the 1050 ti then AMD could have near complete control of the budget segment of video cards.
I will respectfully disagree. For new builders, you could be right. For people upgrading systems with dicey and/or under-powered PSUs, not needing a PCIe power cable is a Big Deal. This will be especially true if low-profile versions are released.
Now if the funds aren't available for that, and your PSU is junk, then yeah 1050 is the way to go. If the machine is a slim model that can only use low-profile cards, obviously form factor is your biggest limiting... factor. So there will hopefully be some decent low-profile models. Time will tell.
you should look at what happen with 270 vs 750ti. this is segment where budget is very tight. and some of them just want to play games even on lowered setting instead of using their very weak integrated graphic. while they do care about "best bang for buck" their first priority will always "what best gpu i can get without changing anything else".
