AMD has already talked about cutting the 470's price to compete with the 1050ti. First leaks suggest the 1050ti was going to be $149 so I think we will see near the MSRP.

True. But heck, even my old GTX 970 couldn't run Ultra with advanced settings. I had to run the game on high. I still can't even max it with a 1070 :l

Again, depends which resolution. Also depends each person, fox ex:me, high-medium settings is plenty fine, i do not need to full every settings to feel better gameplay.

That doesnt make any sense, the 470 isnt in competition with the 1050ti, it should wipe the floor with it.

If you consider a 1060(6gp) and a 480 generally equal. 1060 faster in dx11, 480 faster in dx12. Lets just call them equal rather then argue which would be better.

The 1050ti is 40% less shaders, and 19% lower clock speed = ~51% cut off the 1060(6gb).

The 470 is 11% less shaders and 5% less clock speed = ~15% cut off the 480(8gb)

Even if we didnt call the 1060 and 480 equal, and we called the 480 75% of a 1060(which i dont even think a diehard nvidia fanboy would go that low)....then the 470 shoudl still be about 20% faster then the 1050ti.

The RX 470 is closest competitor to the 1050 Ti not counting the 1060. Besides there is rumors that the RX 470 was originally gonna be priced around $160 but because nvidia had nothing in the segment at launch AMD could afford to charge more for the RX 470. If the RX 470 was dropped to close to the price of the 1050 ti then AMD could have near complete control of the budget segment of video cards.

I will respectfully disagree. For new builders, you could be right. For people upgrading systems with dicey and/or under-powered PSUs, not needing a PCIe power cable is a Big Deal. This will be especially true if low-profile versions are released.

Will be very interesting to see actual performance numbers. It wouldn't surprise me if NVidia wants the reclaim the "fastest GPU w/o auxiliary power cable" crown.

not only low profile, single slot card would be nice too, for aq itx case, you can fint any card but a single slot leaves space for extra ports and better airflow, the 1050 from evga is practivally identical to the 750ti, should be as silent as that, the price, well, perhaps in 1 year we will see those prices, surely will happen the same as what happened with rx 480 and 470, a passively cooled card single slot would be fantastic

Some will, but it looks like they're going to populate a range of prices. Cable-equipped models with upgraded cooling and considerable binning/overclocking will command a decent premium.

I will respectfully disagree. For new builders, you could be right. For people upgrading systems with dicey and/or under-powered PSUs, not needing a PCIe power cable is a Big Deal. This will be especially true if low-profile versions are released.

At current prices, sure. But if they DO drop the 470 down to around $150, it expands your options for upgrading an existing OEM box, if it's ATX. I'd be eyeing a fairly inexpensive ~450 Watt 80 Plus Bronze PSU. I mean even at regular prices you're looking at $40 for such a PSU.

Now if the funds aren't available for that, and your PSU is junk, then yeah 1050 is the way to go. If the machine is a slim model that can only use low-profile cards, obviously form factor is your biggest limiting... factor. So there will hopefully be some decent low-profile models. Time will tell.

it depends on how nvidia want to play their card. there is no 680ti either. instead we got new 700 series and some of the 600 series are being rebrand into lower tier of 700 series.

i think AMD never intend to price 470 that low. from what i can see that is people expectation of 470 price. because to most people AMD is cheap alternative. but if AMD did really price 470 at $150 that will also have to drop RX460 price further. they need to make some distance between 460 and 470 because the the gap of performance between the two. and ultimately AMD also need to make money. there are speculations that RX480 should be sold at much higher price. and if i remember correctly AMD said Polaris 10 will cover the price range up to $300.

even if 470 did come down to $150-$160 it is not a sure win for 470. back in 2014 something similar happen to 270 vs 750ti. amd drop 270 price down to $150 (from $200) to counter nvidia 750ti ($150) but for some people due to very limited budget and small power supply (250w-300w) they still end up choosing 750ti over 270.
