Tegra 3 is a quad core, A5X is a dual core. The graphics section of the A5X has four cores, the CPU has two.

Their chip did better in single threaded applications. If you look in the miulti-threaded applications side, you can't even see Apples Chip. In fact apples A5 Doesn't even beat the Tegra 2 in the application.

I think these are very important too.[/citation] It's hilarious to me that you can't even get beyond 1920x1080 graphics in a desktop for a very reasonable price point and Apple is trying to push it on a tiny tablet screen it's rather absurd for a screen that size eye strain much, but it's all about the specs and the apple fanboys will eat it up like the fools they are.
What apple claims is outright slander. #1 as far as graphics go, nvidia has the upper hand in effects. Physx, lighting, and effects were proven to be a much mover vivid and intense gaming experience on tegra 3 than the same iPad games. Yes textures are sharper, but did that make the xbox 360 a lesser graphical competitor to the ps3? Definitely not #2 apple claims better graphics than xbox And ps3? Complete BS. Just because you upped the resolution higher than standard resolution and probably doubled the amount of ram means squat. Its all about bandwidth and cpus, because ultimately your cpu's determine your overall performance and geometry count. Crap geometry is easy to spot and, its not pretty.

The only processor that gets close to A5 uses the same GPU as A5. Renesas Mobile APE5R uses SGX543MP2. It outperforms the Tegra3 with full 24 bit color depth. Tegra3 supports only 16 bit washed out color depth.. A5X probably uses an MP4 version of the same GPU .. so it will be much higher performance compared to Tegra3.

The Tegra 3 loses out even in the slower iPad 2 GPU in pretty much every test. Since you claim that any test can be made to get the results you want, please prove that the iPad 2 GPU is slower than Tegra 3? Hint: you can't.

NVIDIA has been releasing one chip at a time because they are a newcomer to the mobile processor business. Like what the company is doing in the PC business, they are going to release many chips with different levels of performance. It's not that hard for NVIDIA to make a fast GPU, given how parallel its apps are, by adding more cores. But more GPU cores means more area thus a larger and more expensive chip. If their customers want that, NVIDIA can produce a chip like that. Also, once they are into the GPU performance war, companies like Apple and Qualcomm may run into patent trouble given how long NVIDIA has been building GPUs and the related patents it has accumulated.
