[citation][nom]wira020[/nom]lols.... they take some shot from the web and slaps some words claiming fermi did it... THEY'RE DAMN FAKE...[/citation]

lol, first the Fermi cards showed to the public were fake, and now this... WTH is going on?

Never mind if its fake or not. As people above have mentioned, GPU vendor demos mean absolutely zilch in terms of real world performance in games/video encoding. Lets see some benchmarks, then we'll talk. And EVEN if it is able to render the above at 60FPS - it is rendering a highly optimized scene which again, has zilch to do with real world performance. And furthermore, the theoretical possiblities of the GPU have zilch to do with what game studios will actually do with said power. Some may take advantage of it, but it will be at least the end of 2010 or early 2011 before its used to its full potential.

I remember seeing renders from the Geforce 4 series that were as realistic as this. Any card can render this with the right programming, what counts is how long it took.

SHAME ON TOM'S HARDWARE & SHAME ON KEVIN PARRISH, WHATS UP GUYS U GOT YOUR ARM TWISTED OR WHAT? WHY POST FUD EXTRACTED FROM "LEGIT" SOURCES LIKE PCZILLA WHEN THEY'RE KNOWN TO FAKE MANY OF THEIR STUFF, WHAT KEVIN YOU CAN'T COME UP WITH YOUR OWN NEWS? SHAME ON YOU GUYS

JUST SO THAT THIS POST GO GREY AND STAY HIDDEN HERE'S PROOF ...
SORRY TO DISAPPOINT NVIDIA FANBOYS BUT THESE ARE FAKE, PROOF HERE - http://www.onesize.nl/projects/playgrounds-titles-2009

AND FOR KEVIN PARRISH, WHY ARE YOU SAYING THIS ::"Thanks to Nvidia's Fermi hardware, virtual realism has taken a huge step towards mimicking reality to the point of asking: is it real, or is it a render? A "dramatic upgrade" doesn't justify the visual leap Nvidia has made in virtually recreating faces and environments."::

WHEN IN FACT THE CREDITS IN THE LINK PROVE THAT THESE ARE WAX SCULPTURES AND ONLY THE SWEAT, BLOOD, AND 3D VISUALS ARE ADDED THE ONES THAT ARE RENDERED?

IN ADDITION THE LINKS PROVE THAT THIS STUFF WAS MADE BACK IN AUGUST OF THIS YEAR, MEANING THAT FERMI COULD HAVE NEVER BEEN USED BECAUSE IN AUGUST FERMI DIDN'T EVEN EXISTED,

SO PLEASE RE-EDIT YOUR POST AND SAY THAT THIS IS TOTALLY FAKE BECAUSE OTHERWISE THIS WOULD BE SEEN AS YOU BEING IGNORANT OR EVEN BIASED...

THANK YOU AND NO PUN INTENDED.....

[citation][nom]cyberkuberiah[/nom]what nvidia really needs to do is have some awesome DirectX drivers for this stuff ... for the fullest performance . i suspect that although it'll beat 5870 CF or X2 easily , the thing to watch for is its price .[/citation]

FYI the 5870 X2 is was branded 5970 (dual gpu) and thats a fact they got pictures all over the internet (so please stop calling it that) and for the Fermi i just cant wait till next year to build an a pc with i9 cpu with a fermi gtx 300 gpu on a lucid hydra 200 with raid 0 ssd drives.

im a pc 4 life baby.

What a sad day - looking at half the comments fx "WOW" - your brain is wax. Even when this shit and the so called "author" is removed the sad picture still remains.
It is more shame on the general IQ than Toms hardware.

[citation][nom]brockh[/nom]Damn. How'd this end up here? And why is the guy who obviously proved it's fake get his post greyed out?[/citation]

No one greyed him out for saying the truth...
The posts don't get greyed out... Every newcomer's post is greyed off, only the posts that receive lots of thumbs down get hidden. being greyed out is not a punishment

Seriously, this is not that difficult to figure out... I haven't been here that long and figured it out...

To all of you that still believe this:
WAKE UP!!! in the pc industry seeing is believing, how many times have you heard news of some breakthrough that actually lived to the hype!!! Lot's of crappy tech as emerged from blown off claims...

[citation][nom]ZZZ2010[/nom]Fake . Pips Labs is a FX Studio. This is rendered stuff.http://onesize.nl/projects/playgrounds-titles-2009http://vimeo.com/6947473http://motionographer.com/theater/ [...] nd-titles/[/citation]

While you're right that this is from that fx studio, you're wrong about one thing. This isn't even rendered! If you wait till the end of the video you'll see the credits mentioning the two actors that appear in the movie, one's named Jeroen Roos and the other Cesario di Domenico. And even if that could mean that they used their images to create 3d models, next in the credits is a make-up artist, and a location scout.

Truly impressive. It's not like only nvidia cards can render realistic
images, any other manufacturer's card can. the question is whether they can render fast.

There's no doubt that fermi will render fast but when you compare the specs of 5870 and gt380, one big difference you see is the
memory interface size. gt380 has a whopping 512 bit whereas 5870 has
a meager 256 bit.

i think ati's response would be 512 bit of 5870, a 5970 maybe. Would like to see them neck and neck.

[citation][nom]the prophet[/nom]SO PLEASE RE-EDIT YOUR POST AND SAY THAT THIS IS TOTALLY FAKE BECAUSE OTHERWISE THIS WOULD BE SEEN AS YOU BEING IGNORANT OR EVEN BIASED... THANK YOU AND NO PUN INTENDED.....[/citation]
Please edit your post to remove the caps otherwise you may be seen as retarded.

It looks like they are using CUDA to offload final rendering to the GPU. It is probably a custom CUDA-based raytracer. That's all. There is nothing for gamers there!

Im confused... so those rendered shots were of the low end spectrium of nvidias GTX360M? So they are bringing out low to middle end chips as opposed to the past with thier flagship cards out first? Man I wonder when and what the price points will be if these chips are considered "low end"..... looks good to me, much like a GTX285

It is obvious the VAST majority of persons on here submitting a comment on the "fabulous win for Fermi" do not even bother reading ANY of the comments. ESPECIALLY the CLEARLY listed links showing how this entire article is AT BEST predicated on a hoax/fanboi wetdream re the posting by:

I could say this is sad but unsurprisingly the unquestioning Nvidia propaganda site "Fudzilla" has pretty much the same "Golly! What a SUPER job Nvidia has done!" article pasted over there. Fuad Abazovic even extolls the virtues of "...the good chaps from Pczilla have leaked some "lifelike" images..."
Uncritical, unthinking parroting of fake "information" that is of the same sort he LAST published about the FAKE mockup of the Fermi "hardware" shown to the press.
Being an "journalist" e.g. someone who is PAID to write articles presupposes you check at least SOME background on these stories.
Commenters of course can be of much lower quality in their veracity when opining.

Sadly this FAKE "journalism" is becoming the norm and is even defended when it is pointed out.
I hope Kevin posts an apology when and if he acknowledges this foolishness.
It is a shame that I do not think this will happen.

I never thought of Tom's Hardware as a site with trashy rumors but This shows me otherwise...

THIS IS NOT RENDERED IN REALTIME !!!

This is a project of video artists that were Helped by Nvidia hardware to help them with their POST-production.

I think all this publicity is probably NOT what Nvidia wanted as it is just digging themselves a hole they can't get out of... They aren't able to deliver on these wild fanboi fantasies...

For the sake of realistic expectations... let it go...

[citation][nom]ssalim[/nom]Soon entire movies in the future will be made by computer. No need for actors or expensive production cost.[/citation]

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within cost 137 million to make. Just sayin.

thanks doe enlightening us ... i guess that performance like this would too good to be true for a while .
