Nvidia would give cards to random Youtube dudes? For some reason I don't see that as likely.

Just because you might not like them doesn't mean they don't exist. There are allot of youtubers out there like Jayz two cents, Linus tech tips, awesome sauce network, hardwarecanucks, pauls hardware and quite a few more. I know jayz got two, and i think luke said LTT got two as well. Paul got one.

And yet, this youtube confirmation does not yet exist.
It will soon (for various values of soon), but not today.

"I know jayz got two". You know this how? You skyped with jayz and he showed you the cards? Or you were the UPS guy that delivered them?
Or you heard it from a friends cousin's gardeners boyfriend?

All I see here are dozens of random questions that no one can answer yet.
"Can I...?"
"Should I...?"
"Will it...?"

I KNOW because jay was holding both 1080's in a recent video, he said he can show them but not talk about them until the nda is up the 17th.
And yes, people ask these stupid questions when big things like this happen, it's just the way it is.

it should be interesting to see how each site reviews them. we should get every possible game benchmarked in every possible way with the amount of cards out there. and since they all should be reference cards hopefully there will be some consistency in the results. personally i am hoping that at least one site does a cpu comparison test to see how the card does with a variety of cpu's. this is something people are already asking here and will be of interest to those thinking of upgrading. will a new i3 be enough? older i3/5? gets old seeing a bunch of test systems with x99 cpu's and tons of ram and such. i wanna see a test system like i am likely to have and not super high end stuff. how about a solid 4690k build like i have. i volunteer mine if tom's wants to send me a 1080 to test 😀

i'm old enough to remember the cabbage patch kids craze in the 80's. parents literally attacking each other for them and even cases of adults punching kids to snatch theirs. was terrifying as a kid but now i look back and laugh at it. i worked in a mall as a teen when beenie babies were big. hallmark store next door got some and i watched adults hit the floor and roll under the gate at opening to get to them as fast as possible. they grabbed all they could and had to fight off others to keep them as well. me and security guys watched and laughed our asses off at them. but not a one was even close to embarrassed about it. they acted like it was the right thing to do!!

Thats pretty much going to be the scene on the 27th when the 1080 goes live on newegg, ncix, nvidia ect.
I'm just gonna be chilling with my 980ti watching.

I'm one of those people that just stuck with windows 8.1, (don't lynch me please) honestly, it's not half bad imo and I'm comfortable with it so i just haven't upgraded to 10 and probaly wont.

Well regarding who got cards for review i think at the very least nvidia did not have active white/black list as whoever got their card unless you have break NDA like posting full review before official launch date.

If you don't have benchmarks of something coming out in 15 days, I EXPECT benchmarks of something coming out in 10 months!!!!

sure looks like the specs of the 1080 to me. right amount and speed of ram. looks like a pretty normal incremental upgrade. i'm not 100% sure how the scores reflect real world performance but they are a nice geometric increase in score as it gets harder on the gpu. nice 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 point jump as test gets easier over the titan x.

an interesting note for the rumor mill would be the polaris specs leaking all over the place. they seem to suggest roughly 980ti performance for about $300 at a 150w tdp. that would probably be roughly the 1070 performance level as it seems so far. this would do some serious damage to the price of 1070's right away if they are out first (rumors are end of the month which beats the 1070 to release). can't ask $450 for a card with similar performance as a $300 one.

sure hope this turns out to be even close to true as we could be seeing some major price/performance for this level of card (from both team green and red). i'd upgrade at $300 without even thinking about it for 980ti level of performance. would also answer a lot of the 980ti now or wait for 1070/polaris questions. at this point waiting seems to be the most prudent thing to do until we start seeing these new gen cards in action and in stores for final pricing.

Question from VersaceGaming : "Nvidia GTX 1080 Coming May 27th. (Faster then the Titan X)"

So as we all know the 1080 was just announced and it looks to be considerably faster then the Titan X at an attractive price of $600. My main question for everyone is who planning to upgrade and how much performance do you think we will see coming from two 980 Ti's with a Skylake 6700k Setup?

If anyone has any info on when we will be able to purchase directly from Nvidia or if certain stores or sites will be offering preorders please let us know!

the sli questions are good ones but at this time we have no idea how the new cards will compare. we have some leaked benchmarks but no idea how real world games are going to perform with them. the good news is we only have a few more days to wait before we should know something. still expecting the 17th for benchmarks and reviews to go live.

I was able to snag a new 980ti hybrid off of a ebay tech vendor to sli with my current one, it was only 458. I love when new cards come out and people panic to sell theirs.
