binned I think means the GPUs are high quality which = higher overclocking capability.

Both cards are faster than a GTX 980 ti, especially the GTX 1080.

yah binned means they have cherry picked the best chips for themselves. but i have not read anything saying they have done this. in fact the opposite is what the credible reports have said. nvidia has stated they have not binned any chips and what we saw at the event was an off the shelf card with stock cooling and an oc that should be doable on most founders edition cards. they put a lot of work into the cooling and made it rather high end cooling. hence the extra cost this time around as it is actually a premium card for once.

Will 1080Ti hold up 4K at ultra 60fps? what do you think?

No one is going to know that for sure until specs are released. I think once 1080 benchmarks for 4k come out you can start making some assumptions as to whether the 1080 Ti will do 4k on ultra at 60 fps or not. It's really all one crap shoot though.

Nobody knows. If we have the same percentage bump in performance like it was with the GTX 980 to the GTX 980 ti, then I can see that happening.

Not entirely correct, the 1070 is very likely to be faster than a reference 980 ti as nvidia claims its faster than the titan x but we don't know for sure yet.

a 1070 vs a 980 Ti OC with 3rd party cooling ? i doubt it, maybe 5% slower, but then again you have OC headroom on the 10xx series... i think its going to make some interesting new set ups!

Out of the 2 cads the 1070 looks more appealing especially due to the MSRP of 379$. I sold my 980 ti for £515 and made a £45 loss (not bad for 8 months usage) im considering getting the 1070's in SLI - i'm hoping they are £270 each.

Have they actually said it will be faster than the Titan X when doing regular gaming though? Isn't it possible they were referring to the overall 'package' with the new VR capabilities and multiple viewport rendering and those features when they called it more powerful than a Titan X? IDK. Will be interesting to see the first benchmarks for sure. :)

ohhh. i somehow missed that when i read the specs lol. you sound condescending with the google part. yes, i know how to google, thanks :/ just don't know how to read, apparently lol.

i'm guessing 1070's gonna be smaller since it's less powerful than 1080.

Like I was talking the other day, those numbers look fantastic but to me, sound alot like Nvidia bullsh*t marketing numbers.
Not saying that they are not looking great, they do, but I think what most of you dont realize is that those presentation numbers are mostly on VR mode.

Of course it will offer amazing fast performance, but check this video that actually explains pretty well what I was thinking.

Thanks for that. Honestly I'll be very disappointing if all nvidia did was blow steam out their ass and talk about vr benchmarks, the whole announcement event was a fairly shady thing.

i've been thinking it's shady too, but for a bit of a different reason. how is 1080 and 1070 so cheap while offering what seems to be more power than the 980ti. is it just moore's law in action or something else?

So i just checked on ebay, and people are selling 980ti's like crazy right now. Does anyone think it might just be a good idea to grab one of them, (there's even hybrids going for 400$) while their this cheap or just wait for the 1080. Honestley i just want more vram than my current 970 can offer me, as i love to put graphics mods on skyrim. Should i just buy a cheap, 400$ 980ti instead of waiting on cards that are only showing massive performances in vr, which i have no plan to move beyond 1080p in the future?

Time marches on. Tech improves.

10 years ago, how much was a 4TB HDD?
5 years ago, a GTX 580 was released at near $500.

i think you should wait to see the prices a month from now. it'll probably drop more, but i'm just guessing.

i checked amazon and the the 980ti's didn't go down that much. checked a 980ti hybrid selling from evga and it's still $680. probably won't see a huge drop until the 1080 and 1070 starts selling.

haven't compared those prices. it's just surprising seeing the drop with my own eyes. just incredible.

makes me wonder how intense the power, efficiency and prices would be in 2021

Based on your charts your estimates seem realistic - The Mystery is how fast is the 1070?

If ohenryy's calculations are correct and the 1080 is 20% faster than Titan x in games like the witcher and rise of tomb raider than is the 1070 5% faster?

When Benchmarks come out it will interesting to see exactly what is going on....

780Ti comes out at $700. then 970 coming out at $330. now look again at bench between the two.
