What kind of case do you have? ITX? Micro ATX? Mid Tower?

I couldn't agree more, That's why I'm hoping that if the 980ti or Titan successor use GDDR5X instead of HBM2 it uses a 512 bit interface, GDDR5X is actually 30% faster than HBM1 if it has a 512 bit interface

Honestly i don't think samsung 14nm LPP have any significant advantage over TSMC 16nmFF+. people see 14nm vs 16nm and assume 14nm will win in every metric possible without really understanding the technical part of it. And it is rumored amd bigger chip (most likely Vega) will still going to use TSMC process instead of GF 14nm. There alao talks about Polaris will hit around 1.3ghz. But why nvidia chip able to hit as high as 2ghz? The reason could be architecture change. But it might also possible because of TSMC 16nm FF+ itself. It could be the leakage is small even on high frequency with TSMC process which make it possible for nvidia to get such high clock with pascal.

I'm still waiting to see if anyone can be bothered to find out what the differences (if any) are and to see if it matches up with what I could find.

Any bets on whether or not one of nvidia's partners is going to release a liquid cooled or at least a hybrid card like EVGA did for the 980 ti?

Also superclocked versions don't really matter do they? because even a increased default clock out of the box can be achieved with the normal founders cards using MSI afterburner right?

or Evga Precision yeah. (which i think is still being updated, where as afterburner isn't)

But all cards are different, and some can't OC at all. Buying a pre-OC'd card means it at least good enough for that pre-oc.

Lol, right as I said afterburner hasn't been updated, because well, it hasn't.

[strike]Still waiting on the TwinFrozr6 cooler. *crossesfingers*[/strike]
nvm, it's in that article, just called gaming, which I kinda knew, but it's hard to associate the two.

Well within the first day of testing that card, i would instantly get it refunded on my cooling off period if i found out it couldn't overclock beyond boost xD

I've got a i5 4690 and a 1150 socket motherboard, I plan on doing a SLI of the 1080s, I guess i'm best getting a 1 pin connector version since overclocking beyond 2.1ghz in SLI will get bottlenecked by my CPU? its at 3.8GHZ (boost) now and handled a 970 SLI flawlessly.

Anyone got any good advice to help me out?

see the ASUS ROG 1080 is $619. that founder's edition sure looks less and less appealing knowing custom cards will be cheaper and should be a lot better like always.

i'm working on building a list of the models that have been released so far to update the initial 1080 post. anyone seen any reviews yet for these custom cards or just announcements for the cards?

i'm seeing various models listed by several brands that i am not seeing on the brands website????? i wish some of these sites would source their info a bit better cause i see some pretty specific specs for cards i can't even find elsewhere......

I saw someone earlier say they may buy a new case if the 1080 doesn't fit in their own.

I was thinking the same. However the initial prices are higher than I expected. They are listing cards which are $600 for £600. I thought a $600 card would be £400.

If it happens that the UK doesn't get them at an exchange rate then I will not get one. Or for a good while anyway when maybe they get cheaper. Wait and see.

I mean my 980 can max The Witcher 3, so I can pick up the season pass. Doom will max. Nothing else I want at the moment that the 980 will not max, (at 1080p anyway).

Best of luck to you who can buy it for $600.

hre's a list of some of them http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-custom-model-round-up/ but many are not even listed on their respective websites so no idea where the info comes from nor where you can buy them. amazon lists a ton of "used" cards but i don't see any new ones for sale other than founder's editions.
