They will release a 20g 3080 sometime in the future, that pretty much is a given and has been leaked but it may be 2 months or it may be a year from now. No one when it will release.

I think if AMD does not threaten the current vanilla 3080 performance with its new cards release then you will be looking at probably at least end of 2nd quarter 2021. There would be no reason to release it any earlier if that were the case.

But the actual cost is another unknown but I guess you will be looking at $1000-$1200 price tag for such an animal as well. That may take it out of the reach of many peoples budget over the current 10g in the $700-$800 price range.
You will not get higher performing 3080 cards without a higher price tag attached.

Yes some time in the future but in 2 months time would make a mockery of the current 3080, 2nd quarter 2021 would be about right to me too and a price $1000-1200 would fit just under the 3090 price.

Not really , 16 GB RTX 3070 and 20 GB RTX 3080 are coming this year , and I think it is already in production . Lenovo released Full gaming PC builds spec sheets with RTX 3070 ti 16GB with model numbers and configurations , this does not happen before production. Lenovo has the Card .

Guess that would be why the first lot out seem look so good value. They first release a cut down version of the cards then release full specification version of the cards at a higher price after AMD has released their cards to one up AMD.
Sort of makes sense from a marketing point of view but it sure leaves not very nice to the consumers.

We're probably looking at about $1000 for a 20GB 3080 for no performance improvement. The 20GB 3080 will basically be the sucker model. 3090 benchmarks are starting to leak, and performance in gaming looks like it could be anywhere from 5%-15% faster. With the 3090 having basically 20% more SM's being held back some by the only 2.5% faster memory, we can reasonably assume the additional memory accounts for none of that improvement.

You may need more than 10GB for 8k gaming, but the 3080 won't be fast enough for that anyway. If you can afford a $5000+ TV, you're not going to be missing rent payments spending an extra $800 on your video card.

It'll be fast enough if you don't mind turning details down a bit and then 10GB becomes a non-issue. The RTX3070's 8GB may be a little more worrying since some of the more asset-rich games do hit ~8GB at 4k, that's where we'll see whether PCIe 4.0 can spare the need for 10+GB at that performance level.

Supply should improve a lot in a few weeks, once cards shipped by sea start to reach American shores. The cost of air freight is still very much elevated. Board makers don't really have an incentive to eat the cost.
According to Gamers Nexus many retailers are at the moment willing to take the cost of air freight.
Relatively few of these cards are being shipped by boat. Surface shipping is still some time away from reaching quantities.

... the laws protects the contract , meaning it is lawful contract. ...
Seeing the bids reaching $ 80,000 , this is really scary if the seller decided to goto court.
That's provided that there actually is a seller.
The eBay terms also forbid false sales, so scalpers putting up bids in advance for cards they didn't have (and quite possibly didn't get later on either) are also subject to lawsuits.

Then it would be breach of contract between the bidder and auction house, not any actual law.
You break the actual law saying that you're not allowed to breach the contract. It's a civil case, not a criminal case.

The laws allow contracts to exist, set limits on what contracts can do and define the limits of what can be done to seek redress. There is no law saying that you cannot break a contract, laws merely give parties to a contract the means to go at each other when one side comes short.

When actual laws get broken, be it criminal or civil, it is the relevant authorities' prosecutors that pick up the case, not companies or individuals.
