Hey all.

I still haven’t figured this out. What is the real difference between Quadros and normal GFORCE? I have a Quadro FX 4600 in my work box here and Im thinking about replacing my Gforce 7800GTX with it. I know the Quadro is DX10 compatible. But why are they so expensive? This card ran $1000+ (sells for $2000 on some sites) when I bought it several months back and it seems like its directly compatible in specs with certain GF 8 series cards. But what differentiates them? You think it would make a good gamer card? The thing in size would give even my 7800 gtx peen envy.

Awesome, that’s exactly what I was looking for and expected. Basically installing the FX 4600 gets me a card in the 8800 class range. That’s a good enough reason to swap. When I bought it in a Precision, It only added about $750 to the price.

$750 for an old G80 based GTS, I wouldn't call that 'Awesome'.

It would be nice if you got it for free, but really you'd be better off e-baying it for $500 and then buying an G92 based GF8800GTS-512 and pocketing the $250 you have left over.
