Hi Guys,

I've been having a problem recently where my display drivers (and sometimes PC) crash

Specs
Mobo: Maximus Z690 Hero
CPU: i9-12990KS
GPU: MSI RTX 4090 Suprim X
PSU: Corsair HX1500I

Displays:
MSI MPG321URX-QD (DisplayPort 240hz)
Pixio PX7 Prime (Display Port 144hz)
Some random 7 inch LCD from amazon (HDMI 60hz)

Every now and then for the past month or so my screens will all go black and after a few minutes either come back as normal or hard reset the PC, event viewer is showing nvlddmkm error 153 TDR resets when this happens and occasionally error 14 with messages like:

\Device\00000148
CMDre 00000000 00000200 00000000 00000005 0030000a

The error 14 only seems to happen if my system crashes completely. It doesn't seem to be related to GPU load as it's happened both while gaming and also while completely idle.
I've tried DDUing and reverting drivers, re-seating the GPU and 12vhpwr cable, removing my cablemod 180 adapter and trying newer drivers too. So far nothing has helped.
The problems did seem to start after I upgraded my primary monitor from the MPG321UR-QD (144hz) to the URX (240hz) but I can't confirm that's what is causing the issue. I'm starting to run out of ideas to try and wondering whether to just RMA the card, but I've had it for about a year and a half with no problems.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated

Cheers

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard?

You state using DDU, did you remove all GPU drivers(intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then manually reinstalling the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command?

Corsair HX1500I
How old is the PSU in your build?

What OS are you working with?

Thanks for the reply,

I'm on BIOS version 3501, I haven't updated it in quite a few months.
With DDU I have only removed NVIDIA Drivers, but I have never had any other cards in this system, so I never thought to remove the others.

My PSU is less than a year old and I am running Win 11 with latest updates.

Thanks :)

Any solution to this? Been having the same problem, screen suddenly goes black and might go back or crash. Some times helps to disconnect the displayport cable and the reconnect it.

GPU:
RTX 4080Super

Samsung G8 (240hz)
