It put me to sleep. Graphics were beautiful and you could literally wander all over the place ... even get lost if you wanted but otherwise it was a big YAWN for me.

Your mileage may vary.

I was major disappointed.

Im about 30 some hours into the game. It gets boring. I dont feel any urge to play anymore. Game is fun for about the first 20-25 hours then I just got really bored with it. Maybe its just not for me.

I've been playing my current game for 90 Hours & I haven't even started the main quest, I am trying to be good though, NO Money tricks, NO books holding the run key whilst I eat my tea. I am a vampire which makes it quite challenging but sometimes a bit annoying.

I keep upgrading my rig to try and get a better experience, I am up to

P4 650 OC'd 3.73Ghz
1.5 Gb DDR400
Geforce 7600GS 512Mb
XP SP2
CRT 17" Monitor only supports 1024x768 @70Hz

There is so much to do I think I will keep coming back to it the way I have with Diablo II over the years.

I love it!!!

I don't know how anyone could give Oblivion a rating lower than 4/5, unless they get bored very fast. The graphics are top notch, and the side quests kept me busy for weeks before I played the main campaign. Add Shivering Isles to that, and the result is one heck of a good game. The one minor complaint I have is that I had to upgrade my graphics card and my RAM to get Oblivion working right, but it was worth the money. Now all I need is an official patch to fix that bug in Shivering Isles, although the mod is working well for now.

the game does have bad hit detection. ever try shooting a guy with an arrow when he is in a chair the arrows sick in the chair .. you can have arrows that are floating in mid air above the back of the chair and because of shitty design it still hits the chair.

trust me i loge almost 300h in the game and while it can be fun there is a lot of programing bugs/ errors that could have been fixed ,, even with the new patch + shivering isles it still has issues.

To be honest, I have never fired an arrow in Oblivion. I'm a warrior/mage kind of person, and have never gotten into using arrows. I will take your word about the bugs in the game, but I still give Oblivion a high rating.

My only real complaint with Oblivion is the invincible NPCs.

I understand they wanted to make it so that you could not accidentally bork the plot but when the same guardsman keeps getting up it gets annoying. Especially if after you have turned a corner he will greet you happily again as if you didn't commit guardsman genocide less than 10 feet away.

Also I WANT to be ABLE to bork the plot if I am really REALLY persistent and careful.

The first time you see that guy, with the cult ( I'm avoiding being too specific) I tried for hours to kill him before he portaled away. I even tried reloading, getting a few grand soul gems full, making a bow of utter rapage, sneaking around behind him, and fwakooming him to kingdom come, then jumping off the edge and driving my sword into his back repeatedly and he didn't even blink. I was so disappointed.

Other than that, it just got a bit repetitive. After I had progressed through the ranks in all the various guilds, I got tired enough of the gameplay that something else distracted me away from finishing the plot. Shame really.

Thats not hit detection, its the hitbox of the chair 😛

Oblivion was a huuuge disappointment to me and ill tell you why. On my brand new computer it would lag lag lag no matter if the resolution was MAXED or to the bare minimum. This is on a new athlon 5000, radeon 1900xt, with 2 gigs of ram. Could never figure out the problem.
