Question Of boots up for 10 seconds - 1 minute then trips out

I recently reassembled my pc to clean my fans etc from dust as it has not been cleaned in the 8 years I had it and my fans were working too hard when playing games as they couldn’t get enough airflow.
The only wires I disconnected where the cpu fan cable and my gpu cable. I removed my fan and heatsink and then clean off the old thermal compound and applied new one. (Recommended to reapply thermal paste after 5 years) after everything seemed to go swimmingly I put everything back together and powered on my pc. Now it sometimes boots up enough for me to get to my desktop then trips out or something only powers on for like 20 seconds. I have checked my cpu pins in great detail and I cannot see any bent pins so I’m sure this isn’t the case? What could be the issue?

I think its the pressure.
Did you screw it 1324 (oposite edges, on clock numbering screws 1234) from the point where screws catch, 1 full twist each hole?
I think recommended is 3 turns each screw after you start to feel its resisting, but doublecheck that with specific socket.
also check bios if possible for temps.
10 seconds is around the time cpu needs to go full 100 and have thermal shutdown.

I dont remember which board was it but one of the older series had a quirk if you killed the cpu fan or did not mount it, then it wont boot.

as in the cpu fan mounting brackets? If so then no I just screwed one side in then the other side then I screwed the heatsink to the brackets.
Also my motherboard is Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Z68P-DS3 (Socket 1155)

I’ve also just realised that with my heat skin which is an Arctic freezer i30 I didn’t apply thermal past on the back of the heatsink I only applied a think layer on the back of the cpu. Could this be the reason?
