I am planning to upgrade my GeForce2 MX/MX 400 32 MB
with a Radeon 9800Pro 128 MB.

My system has a 1.3 Ghz processor with 512 MB RAM.

Will the rest of the system make the new video card
a waste of money?

Thanks, and forgive my ignorance!

No, it wont be a waste of money it will give you a huge performance boost over the GF2.
You will be able to play all the games with decent frame rates.

He will certainly not be able to play everything, but it is a very large improvement over his GF2.

Maxtor disgraces the six letters that make Matrox.

I would recommend upgrading to an AthlonXP system, they're cheap as hell these days, even with the 2200+, and buy the 9600pro if 9800pro is out of budget after new system, you'll get a better performance system.

Thanks guys, I was hoping it would be a good or decent
upgrade decision!

I remember getting my first 3D accelerator, a 3DFX Voodoo
add-on card... WOW! The best $99 I have ever spent on a
PC related upgrade. Playing Quake and then going to Quake
with 3D acceleration was like a bling man being granted
full sight!
