I am looking for 120/128 gb ssd to upgrade from hdd for boot drive.

For almost the same price the market here is offering old ssds like:-

Samsung 850 evo (2014), some transcend, crucial, Kingston ssdnow v+200 (2012, bought together for friend, turns out it doesn't have dram oops!!)

And new definitely dram-less ssds like:-

Hikvision e100, lexar ns100, Adata SU650, and less commonly Patriot P210, teamGroup GX2, WD green

Currently, I most commonly use Chrome and android studio. New ones do come with warranties but i don't know how easy the procedure will be.
(Old ones have 10 days checking warranty)

That video from Linus is haunting me

Btw, the Kingston one we bought only has 1tb written out of 96tbw. And doesn't have much uptime. It does have 1000+ startups/boots. And most of these are probably extracted from old laptops or pre built office PCs.

SSDs of that size should be dirt cheap nowadays but also long lasting if not badly abused, most will exceed TBW by large margin which would most probably outlast it's usefulness and any warranty in many years anyway.
What prices in US $$ are you looking at ? I have seen brand new ones going for $5-$10 which makes them cheaper than HDDs.
Btw," dramless" is not a great handicap.

Around 12 USD but being a student in 3rd world country, it has some significance.

Look at it this way. it's an investment for next 5 years plus which will make your PC work faster, over next years you could save enough time to get a temporary job to pay for it.
I forgot to mention that was the price for new dram-less 128 gb ssd. (Which I bought actually) ones with DRAM start at $35 (Samsung 870 evo). There is also a Seagate barracuda (ZA480CV1A002) in between, but my guess is it is dram-less.

Currently i am having buyers remorse, i bought hikvision 128gb ssd (haven't opened the packaging yet), but now i am thinking of changing it with 256 one as some have suggested that and it only cost 40 - 50% more.

BUT, The thing is, back in 2017 I decided to buy a 1TB drive. And i still have 480 gbs unallocated. In total, I have only used 175 gb on my 1TB drive...... (Kinda feel bad after figuring out these numbers. I am definitely not abandoning this drive anytime soon.)

So I am not sure what i will do with all this extra space, currently i can only think of putting Android studio (8 GB), chrome and whatsapp on the ssd. I will be upgrading an old laptop and hope to buy a new one within a year.
Really having a hard time making this decision.

Hikvision is famous for their surveillance equipment which doesn't require fast disks and just rebrand them, could have anything inside, stay away for use in PCs.
As for capacity. Windows need about 20GB, minimum 10GB of free space for proper operation and SSDs should have minimum 20% of total free space for "wear equalization" which prolong it's life.
Larger SSDs are also faster in normal use and last longer.
