Question one core 80 degrees hotter (106C)

Hi,
Recently put together a PC. Water cooled. Everything has been running great for about a month. Yesterday the machine started to shut down while gaming. After figuring out that it wasn't the specific game I was playing, I looked at the hardware monitor and noticed that temperature #4 is way hotter than the rest (106, compared to around 22 for everything else).

Anyone seen anything like this before? Copying the report below:

It could be bad sensor, (I really don't know if its 1 sensor , or there are multiple as one for core).

If still under warranty, I would call it RMA. If loading default bios, reseating/repasting the paste wont work, I would go for RMA.

Since when the PC watercooling loop is recently built , there is no way to clog up the block.

I did a poor job of describing what is happening. When I load a game (any game), all the apps continue to run, but the display completely shuts down. Initially I thought that this was an overheating issue. But now I'm wondering if it is something else. The display says that it's not receiving any signal from the computer and won't run back on until I reset the computer.

Which PSU would be it?

There is known issue that RTX can fail (cause of the poor memory).

EVGA 750 GQ, 80+ Gold 750W.
RTX 2080 is the GPU.

I would not assume that 'TEMPERATURE 4' has anything to do with a particular core with only 6 listed and the 9700K being an 8 core CPU

Run HWMonitor...which gives plain English results as to which temps are what (package temps, core 1-8 temps, etc..), and note what clock speeds are seen...

Confirm pump is even plugged in at all...(typically the first minute or two of operation, the CPU will run near max clockspeeds launching all applications, syncing with assorted webstores, AV scan, etc...) If your pump chassis is too hot to touch, I'd speculate it is not pumping at all....

Jump into the BIOS, make sure you've not engaged any overclock presets that might be applying dangerous core voltages, etc....; leave everything auto/default for now until we figure out what is happening...

I'm beginning to think that the problem is my RTX 2080. When playing any game, the fans on the GPU spin like wild and the display shuts off. All programs continue to run as normal.

I've been troubleshooting with NVIDIA tech support for many hours, but have not fixed the issue.

Anyone heard of this kind of problem?

The Temperature #4 input on the Nuvoton NCT6791D Super I/O sensor chip will report an absurd temperature when there is no thermistor connected (i.e. open circuit) to that input.

I had the same problem with an i9- 9900 and a Radeon rx-5700xt. one of the pcie power connecter wasn't plugged in all the way
