One question about Apple computers now....

wasn't Gates first piracy a massaged version of CP/M? A lot of MSDOS innovations seemed to come from copying features from IBM and DR-DOS.

well...anyway....Apple ripped their GUI from Xerox (so the old story goes).

I have a good prediction. Internet Explorer, if past trends continue, will follow the model of Mozilla Firefox. Firefox 2 now has a feature that will allow you to continue your previous session if Firefox crashes for some reason. This feature is useful as it picks everything up where it was when it crashed, everything you were looking at, every tab in the browser. Microsoft within the next year will rip that off and call it "Microsoft Innovation."

This feature first came out in Opera, as did a lot of other features in Firefox (e.g. tabbed browsing).

So everyone rips off everyone else's ideas. I mean look at Star Office - it's a total rip off of MS Office, but MS just keeps moving on - that's what you have to do in the software world.

That would be correct and just like mac's, Opera is still faster then the competition.........lol j/k

Yes they did.... and guess who ripped off the spread-sheet database idea? Everyone. Poor guy (forgot his name).

And yes Bill Gates and Paul Allen started in Albuquerque NM in 1976 about a block away from my house. I have personaly inverviewed some of the remaining folks here in my town.

I am greatfull for BGates, but I HATE HATE HATE Paul Allen for demanding M$ be moved to Seatle. Good think he went crazy... ba$tard.

Yes, poor spread-sheet guy 😀. BTW, I think you mean "Seattle".

Neon Genesis was great until they ran out of money cause the production company didnt like all the violence.

If you want weird, and your over 18, watch Perfect Blue.

Or: The Fountain. (if you see it, keep in mind there is no CGI).

Yes... but I digress. Ok... so how did we get from bashing Mac fanboys to this? Either way, I just want to get my dual-boot Vista/OS X leopard machine up. I have only one problem: My dvd burner keeps making coasters... so I'm goign to have to get a new one.

Dude, leave the OP alone... this conversation is much better than the OP was. 😉

Actualy, yes i did. It added something to the scene that I apreciated. I liked the end, but I liked the movie end beter.

Did you know the people who did LOTR signed up to do a live action movie? The budget was 1billion USD, but the firm backed out when approched with the Hobbit.

Dante_Cose_Cuervo,
Your not much for troubleshooting are yoU?

I've been troubleshooting it... and it's only getting worse. It's pretty much gone, but I'm not sure why. I never really use it so I'm surprised that it would crap out on my so soon... whatever.

Son of a b*... a live action movie with 1b budget? That would have been so sweet!

And yeah, the end was OK but it was a bit frustrating for me (just because there were so many questions I felt like they left unanswered).

I liked that about NG. Just like I like the movie "The Fountain". Some times its more worth while when you dont have the entire movie spelt out for you, then forcefed down your throat with no room for interpretation.

Apple didn't rip the GUI from Xerox. That is the story many Windows advocates want to go with so it helps make Bill look better for what he did. What Steve Jobs did was PURCHASE the remaining ideas for the MacOS from Xerox. They had developed things he really liked and believed would fit in well with MacOS, so he purchased it for about $50,000 in Apple stock that Xerox maintains to this day.(Worth many millions in the long haul.) Bill doesn't purchase ideas to plug into his OS, he just incorporates his own "innovations" into Windows, which are simple modifications of what others created.

Here's to the crazy ones.
The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo.
You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing that you can't do is ignore them.
Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.
Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that's never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?
We make tools for these kinds of people.
While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Steve Jobs

deuce1981, there's nothing you can do to convince these people that you're right. Why? Because they are irrational. The criticize and vilify Mac users but they can't look at themselves in the mirror and see what is plainly obvious: they are just a bunch of PC fanboys! And because there are so many the only thing you can do is ignore them. They swarm like piranhas to attack anyone who might disagree with them but they are toothless. They can't stop you from buying whatever you want so instead they attack, insult, dehumanize. It's all they know how to do. Then they pat themselves in the back thinking how much smarter they think they are. Meanwhile Apple investors are laughing all the way to the bank. My advice is to just let them wallow in their fanboyism. There are plenty of forums out there where Mac users aren't treated like the scum of the earth. I suggest the Ars Technica forums, where they even have a Mac specific section. Sure, there are flame wars over there as well. Fanboys are fanboys no matter where you go. But at least you won't be alone in your defense of whichever platform you prefer. It almost seems like these zealots don't want you to have a choice. They want Apple to fail. I find it all very creepy. Even Orwellian.
