I suppose you have evidence to back up this fud huh raystonn?

I don't think Ray is saying that AMD is some poor 3rd-world country company that doesn't have any money, he's saying there is no budget for doing that because AMD is concentrating on Hammer.

he's saying there is no budget for doing that because AMD is concentrating on Hammer.

And I am asking him to provide evidence of this statement, nothing more, nothing less.

If hes making a guess, thats fine, let him say "I think" if he wants to spout fud as fact, he better be prepared to back it up.

I agree 100% ...

Not only that but you wouldn't need so many fans in your case either to cool down the cpu. SO a pentium 4 machine is a lot quieter i would imagine. So far my next upgrade will probably be hammer or Intels prescot (or whatever the name is). I'll go which ever has the better performance AND QUALITY this time around.

Right now AMD is slacking i think. Intel is gonna pumble AMD to the grown if AMD doesn't speed up the process a bit.

Right now i can't recommend AMD. You can get a Pentium 4 1800mhz for $166 and overclock it to 2400 or faster even. WHere AMD's fastest processor cost 250 and doesn't do anymore then 5% overclock. Thats horrible. The only thing AMD had going for them was the ability to overclock and now they got nothing. Not only does the CPU burn your house down but it also makes for horrible overclocking.

Thanks to the small service area resulting in condense heat, which causes the cpu to heat up faster, so you need a 70 dollar HS&F that weighs more then the case itself to cool off the fission reactor! lol! So your not saving any money. ... god, get together like a million tbirds and you'll probably have your fission reactor for you nuclear scientist out there. heheh! Fission reactor is like a compacted sun lol! (not to be confused with fusion which produces waste)

Unreal!

Of course thats my opinion.

cos your ruining their buzz and glory for intel? lol ... i still think Intel looks better for now though ... if i was buying a computer now i'd get the pentium 4 1.8 and overclock it to 2.4 or try to shoot higher. ... *shrugs*

Someone produced a link to a site with a green one that OCed over 2.1 on air. However, it was an AMD fan site, so it could have been slightly biased.

Here's another thought Mat. Those with the timing issues don't overclock well, but still run stably at whatever stock speeds they are set to, so they might be releasing the older ones with the timing issues as lower clocked T-breads, as they still work at the speeds they are being sold.

Now, as for them reaching PR2500+, the Barton is coming out soon (between now and December) and that could be how AMD is planning on getting that high in the XP line.

The t-bread has been out for 1 day. Give it about 2 weeks, and you might find out more information about what AMD did.

just a theory anyway ... but i suspect that because there is less surface area the heat can't escape the core fast enough. resulting in terrible overclocking ability and high temperatures.

Surface area is a huge deal. When you have condensed heat in one area i wouldn't be surprised if the thing cooked even with an aluminum HS&F on it.

of course thats just my theory anyway.

I'd say they're pretty darn fair if people are split about who they favor.

A: reports saaying amd is making red and green chips at the same time(from a reputable source) which would be fine
B: green tbreds are overclocking as poorly as the red ones
C: more overclock results from red chips to further show they are limited, etc.

I am waiting for more data.

The picture's green but the reviewer doesn't state which was used. Anyway, I see your points and think there's a possibility that AMD may be dumping their old "poor overclocker" stock of T-breds first, before shipping the fixed ones. If the green ones are better, they probably couldn't give them to reviewers because informed customers would be pissed at getting the brown ones that can't break 1900.

Kew .. Ever been to AZ? i have plans to possibly move there.
Hopefully my newyork additude will be gone by then eh? lol .. ok probably not so i'm screwed ... oh well ...

Never been to Arizona, sorry. I've lived in California, Oregon, Washington, Uganda and Australia, and been to Virginia, the Carolinas, Kenya, England, Wales, New Zealand and Canada.

Hi mom!

BTW, ViaHardware only got to "around" 1900MHz.

Unfortunately, our first results weren’t all that great—our CPU refused to move past around the 1900 MHz mark, although we lacked the time to aggressively test the chip in multiple boards or with high-performance air coolers.

lol hey as they say to a hooker, damn you've been around few blocks lol!

of course not hinting or implying at all that you're a hooker (although you could be, not that there is anything wrong with it)... it's just a joke ....

i've been to newyork? PA once? canada a couple times lol ... i've lived in buffalo where day talk like dis y0 ok nigas, so u's bess watch y0 back cos i be cap'en it. ... lol ya it sucks i wanna move out'a here lol.

excuse my additude as it comes natually with living amongst a'holes.

Then feel free to leave it with the "a'holes"

Oh, I forgot to add Idaho, Montana and Wyoming to that list. Went to Yellowstone a couple years ago. I'm trying to drive that from my memory, not the most fun vacation ever. Spent pretty much the entire time in the car.

oh oh oh i plan on it ... everything is staying here but my computer and eerything related of course ... computer is like the son i've never had! .... or something like that ...

Here is my prediction:

The t-bred isnt overclocking and is gonna keep on not overclocking for a while. I still think AMD has "issues" with the die shrink. First off, the athlon core is old. You can only push a core so far. I dont care if its shrank to .13 or not, its still the same core.
Second, all chips are made exactly the same way. THey pull them off the line and test them. The ones that clock high they stamp "really fast", the slow ones get stamped with a lower clock speed. So I think the T-bred not being an overclocker shows AMD can not get quality yields.

for every person that complains about AMDs over-heating chips. I would like to go on record as saying your a moron and should kill yourself now before you infect the world with your offspring.
Here is why. The average operating temp of a non-overclocked athlon t-bird/XP is around 55c (stock HSF). People scream thats too hot! Too hot for what? Launching a space shuttle, doing your taxes? I think they mean it runs hot compared to a Intel chip. THen they claim they have to go out and spend $80 on a super HSF solution. NO YOU DONT!
The stock stuff works just fine morons. It runs hotter, deal with it! It doesnt mean anything is wrong or you need liquid nitrogen. So what if it runs hotter? Is your head gonna explode? No.. So you say you cant OC with a chip that hot. Again, SO WHAT! Nowhere in AMD's mission statement does it say "please the overclockers".
Anyway, Im sick of hearing how hot they are. please stfu.

Have a nice day

Benchmarks are like sex, everybody loves doing it, everybody thinks they are good at it.

”So I think the T-bred not being an overclocker shows AMD can not get quality yields.”
Good point .. just goes to show you how low quality AMD is.

“The average operating temp of a non-overclocked athlon t-bird/XP is around 55c (stock HSF). People scream thats too hot!”

you forget everything else connected to the AMD chip. You forget about the chipsets and the issues those have. You also forget that you can buy a 1.8ghz pentium 4 for $166 and overclock it to 2.4ghz+ where AMD's fastest cpu is about $250 and can only overclock 5%. Which is the better deal? I think we all can tell from the benchmarks that the 2.4ghz pentium 4 crushes AMD's fastest processor in most situations.

“please stfu”
That is uncalled for. How about a civilized conversation?
