Optimizing your Internet Connection with regedit.exe

I've been reading about optimizing my internet connection by editing and creating keys in the regedit program. I'm not sure if I've tried everything so I was wondering if I could get advice as to which keys I should edit and what I should set the value as. I'm also interested in gaining knowledge about keys that I should create that would help out.

It used to be you would manage the MTU size and a few other config settings , which does NOT require regedit but can be done in it, it can also be done in NIC properties->configure button-> advanced tab though.
