I'm pretty sure the main reason there aren't as many infections in Apple computers as there are in PC's is simply because there isn't a large enough population of Apple computers to infect. But with the huge popularity in iPhone's and iPad's...Apple products are obviously going to become a target.

Doesn't matter what kind of computer/software it is - hackers will find a way. They just tend to target the most popular.

I've gotten use to removing malware that runs deep in a PC. I wonder what it would be like removing it from a Mac since my brother is a Mac user and I usually end up removing the nasties from family members systems.

[citation][nom]jaquith[/nom]You've got to be kidding -- right?! Compared to the 100's of millions of PC infected with any and or all of the above, Mac's are pretty secure or as secure as any UNIX system with OEM added protection.Further, you're a moron if you you don't use a good commercial AV on any computer; you're just asking for it.I have a couple Mac's, a lot more PC's, and a room filled with servers running mostly RHEL. If I were a fool then they all could get infected. Mac's have considerably less problems primary for (2) reasons: 1. More viruses (etc) are written to exploit PC's, 2. UNIX is a tad tougher to 'infect'. Viruses since the 90's have been around for both the Mac's and obviously the PC's. The day there's a 'perfect PC' around I'll be long dead and buried.[/citation]

You do realise the only reason PCs get infected more is because nearly everyone around the world that uses computers use PCs? Nearly nobody uses Macs because they're terrible, so why even bother trying to create viruses to infect them? It's hardly even worth it

Since this is a virus posing as Adobe flash, makes me wonder if there were any Windows PC's infected. I find it curious that they only mentioned MAC infections.

I read an article from a computer security expert awhile back stating that win 7 was more secure than Mac OS X, but that Mac benefited from it's marketshare. Why would a hacker/coder do twice the work for an additional 5-10% versus 85-90% with Windows (only rough percentages, so don't get bent out of shape). With more Macs being sold, it starts to make sense to put in the work. Unix (basis of Mac OS X) may be more secure natively, but protections still need to be put in place. Even Linux would be overrun with viruses if it had the marketshare.

I realize folks are Trolls and the only thing that gives them any worth is to criticize anything they're either [strike]too dumb[/strike] [strike]moronic[/strike] [strike]dense[/strike] uninformed to understand or afford. Most folks use their PC's for porn and or playing games because that's their limit.

You should visit an Apple Store sometime and just maybe your appreciation for the Mac might improve.

I can appreciate all computers, Mac and PC. Regardless of the forthcoming Troll comments the Mac's are pretty darn good.

and you realize you just proved how dumb and ignorant you are for glorifying apple products. anyone who is knowledgeable about computers knows you can buy a better performing computer hundreds of dollars cheaper than even the entry level macbook (if one really exists)

but i guess like most apple fanbois you found they looked pretty and found that was reason enough to spend 1000+ bucks on a 500 dollar computer

[citation][nom]captaincharisma[/nom]newsflash bud mac OSX is built on a form of Linux so you FAIL[/citation]
I'll FAIL to pay for Mac and get Linux for free any day, bud.

Hey I can keep this up all night. Dude, you get what you pay for. One of my SQL servers costs more than a car. I have no cheap computers and I appreciate quality. Again, I have plenty of PCs -> http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2320509 What do you 'do' with your PC?

Maybe you might want to look at a Mac and know something (anything) about it first:

How biased can one get?

Most people use their computers for networking via Facebook and actual work that needs to be done,
like finances, banking, and databases. (Anyone for taxes?)
Even gamers work quite a bit on their systems. - (Certainly more than Mac users.)

A lot of others I know of use their PCs for CD ripping, shopping, DVD ripping, gaming,
writing/e-mail, blogging, media online, browsing news sites, research, school, photo editing, and video conferencing.

Haha, I'll drink to that :p

trust me bud i am not like you willing to pay extra for a computer that looks good. i have had and built many PC's over the years that cost way more less than any MAC on the market and not one of them has failed.

you are right though you do get what you pay for. a computer that costs more because it looks shiny. did the guys at the mac store have to jiggle car keys in front of the computer you were looking at to seal the deal?

Tsk tsk tsk. Don't jump to conclusions, not everyone uses their computer primarily for porn and gaming, but you almost make it sound like a bad thing in relation to gaming. Also, I've owned an apple product or two myself too, so your point is obviously wrong. Sure, Apple is great for their iPods/iPhones and all, but anything else is just garbage, I'm pretty sure a lot of other people would agree with what I just said. I've had more enough Multimedia and Software classes at school to know how terrible Macs are.

Yeah, cool. My PC has an aluminum case too. I've upgraded it twice to get what I want.

PC builders have the luxury of doing actual research to choose what they want, thus getting the quality they're willing to pay for.
And if they want Linux software they can install WUBI or any flavor of Linux they want for FREE.

My PC is used for everything I need to do: Work and Play.
And as a Windows and Linux user I don't have to worry about my system being out-of-spec for a
new OS as Windows is supported for YEARS and Linux can run on basically any system configuration.

And you're doing all that on a Phenom II X2?! Get real. The Mac's have all that built-in and so do many PC's.

Biased -- sure you are. I am probably the only one posting here with both a Mac and a PC and unbiased. If you're doing anything for production (Professional) -- Databases, Photoshop, Video or Sound editing, etc you're doing it typically on a Xeon based PC or Mac, or your mediocrity prevents you from using decent equipment. Mac's are pretty darn good for the creative folks, and it's one of the big reasons for its' devoted followers.

What, you never heard of a Hackintosh?!

Ditto on building your own.

I'm pretty sure a lot of "folks" will agree with me when I say PC has significantly more devoted followers than Mac ;)
