[SOLVED] Over Clocking i7 7700k on ASUS B250M-A

Hello, I know that this board doesn't overclock to my knowlodge but I want to get more out of my PC.

I have a really cheap motherboard because I had to sell my old Beast of a computer & I kept the i7 7700k.

I can't seem to get it to boost to it's 4.5mhz it won't go past 4.39mhz.

I messed with the Core Multiplier & it only allows the CPU to go to 45 on all cores & it will reset if I try anything higher.

Also I tried turning turbo off & on with no difference..

I have a open case with the panals off so it has air flow & the heat sink is a artic huge air cooler..

So is it just a tempiture thing stopping me getting full performance & overclocking on this board or is there something I'm missing?

4.5ghz is turbo with 1 core in use. 2, 3 or 4 cores and it's 4.4ghz. You are getting all you can out of a locked mobo.

Besides being locked the weak vrm setup on that board likely can't handle an all core multiplier of 45.

Thank you thats what I figured, was hoping for something better.. Maybe in the future upgrade.
