Overburning?

Hi,
first thing is I don't personally have a CD writer, and will allow you a moment to laugh before I ask my question (to which you may also laugh).

A friend of mine has mentioned that he buys these 70min blank CDs, but often he wants to record other CDs which are slightly over 70min.

Apparently it is possible to record over 70min on a 70min CD, but there is a warning about such "overburning". But, there is no explanation of what the danger of overburning is?

What is the risk he is being warned about?

The writer may not support overburning, and there may be errors at the end of the disc.

When a CD is burned there is a lead-out at the end (around 90 secs I belive) of the CD. It is possible to write on this lead-out space (overburning).
Therefor problems often occur at the end of the CD when overburning is selected
