overclocked asus mx299q to 75hz but only shows 60hz in game pls help.

i overclocked my monitor using nvidea control panel to a custom res setting changing 60hz up to 75 hz.
the oc was successful and when i checked the monitors properties by right clicking on the screen and going to screen resolution-advanced-monitor, it said 75hz. when i go to paly games however the framerate caps at 60fps with vsync on and testing with fraps.
with vsync off fraps obviously reads much higher fps but the screen fps stays at 60.

can anybody help with this?

you will hardly gain by o/cing to 75hz. anyway, you need a matching desktop and gaming res. most games support standard res and hz and would need a ini tweak to support something else. things are even harder with console ports that are locked on either 60 or even 30.


i would stick with 2560x1080@60 which is the monitors native res. i suppose you are using dvi dual link cable.

im using a hdmi. i tested a few more games and the ones like cs go , team fortess and crysis wouldnt go past 60fps (and my rig can run them much fastet),
whereas borderlands 2 registered 75fps and i did notice a nice difference. you are right about cosole ports though as dead space 3 wouldnt go past 30 fps with vsync. modded new vegas worked fine at the 75fps limit also but yes it needed an ini teak for the ultrawide res.

hdmi is usually locked on 60 and 1920x1080 for anything above that most vendors use(recomend) dvi dual link or displayport. most probably your monitors has some later version. try aslo other signal inputs as you may find more freadom trying different res / hz combinations.
