hey guys,,,have a question about OCing..i have a intel e7500(c2d) at stock 2.93 ghz. planing to OC it but im really confused. heard many peoples saying stable overclock speed.what tha hell that means.if i overclock it to stable OC speed is it same as using it as stock Speed??? or it will crash or expire quickly ???if yes than im out of this OCing game..
and which is better overclocker Core 2 Quad 9550 or AMD athlon X4 3.3 stock??? planning to upgrade to Quad core since i have a LGA775 mobo (nasty huh) :)

A stable overclock means the computer can run at that speed without errors or crashing. It depends on how you overclock not what
you overclock, if you want a good stable overclock up the voltage by about 1V and go to about 3.6GHz and you will have a nice
and stable overclock. Why are you going to buy a CPU for LGA 775? LGA 775 is still used but for what i know they don't make
quad cores for it but if your saying to buy a 9550 or a athlon x4 3.3GHz for your LGA 775 motherboard first a core 2 CPU would be outdated and NOT recommended and a athlon would not fit in that socket :pt1cable: .

ps: What's Nasty?

Thanks for your answer..but i think 1V is too much power increase :s r u sure about that?
and for my MOBO i dont want to upgrade it right now cuz i cant afford it btw i bought this rig 3 months ago i will run it for a year atleast .if athlon x4 is better than intel maybe i will buy AM socket MOBO. and year after will go for intel i5 2500(k)..

u will say that after a year it will be too old but i dont buy newly released specs..like ivy bridge now

Well you can try 0.5V-0.8V maybe? Just find a good stable voltage. im 99.9% sure that the athlon you want is as good or better then the core 2 quad you want!

You can always try a phenom ii which people still use
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103995
it might be able to be unlocked to a six core aswell but you can stick to what you have to!

good suggestion but im gonna stick with Athlon 2 or C2Q.if i do consider about phenom it adds so much complexities for me..intel+Nvidia always worked for me but recently i ordered a Ati HD 5750..so i might get Athlon 2..

as of now im gonna find a good tut about e7500 OCing.tx for ur time

What the hell u guys confused me even more...:-S
@cuecemore i think u mean that i should increase FSB without increasing voltage and monitor mu cpu's voltage, and then at stable overclock at 3.6 i should increase it??

but why i would i do that i my cpu is stable at 3.6 there is no point in increasing voltage, i was very good at physics in 11th grade btw :d
