There is an option in the bios of Z370-P to overclock your cpu to 5ghz.
I have an i5 8600k. Is it worth it to do the auto overclock to 5ghz?
(meaning: Is it safe, etc.)
or should i stay on my manual overclock of 4.8ghz at 1.335v
i have used thermal paste on the CPU and upgraded the cooler to Noctua NH-D15

If you are stable, why chase another two multipliers?
You will not notice the difference.
The auto bios overclockers tend to be very aggressive.
If you try it, monitor your vcore and temperature during a stress test.
Look at the cpu-Z vcore. It should go no higher than 1.4v.
And look to see that the multiplier is varying.
You want speedstep and adaptive voltage which will lower the multiplier and vcore when nothing is going on.
During the stress test see that temperatures do not go past 85c.
as of 3/22/2018
What % of I5-8600k chips can oc
at a aggressive vcore of 1.4 or so and delidded
4.9 96%
5.0 85%
5.1 66%
5.2 38%
5.3 13%

Note the delidded caveat. delidding keeps your cpu cooler.
