P8P67 Deluxe cant get in to the bios

hi i cant get in to my mobo's bios i've tried a ps'2 keyboard, and spaming delete right when i press the power button. i also don't see a splash screen with the asus logo, i only see this _ flashing on the top left of my screen. Any ideas?

Keep pressing DEL button during the BIOS start up. Not just once.

Hi David

Try using the CMOS reset on the motherboard, if that doesn't work remove the battery for 5 minuted then put it back in and try to boot into BIOS again. It may have become corrupted and needs a reset.

I am assuming that you cannot get passed the cursor in the corner... or are you able to progress to windows just not able to enter BIOS?

If you are able to boot into Windows you can use the Event Viewer. FROM 7forums "Type eventvwr in search and go to the windows log>application tab & system tabs.
Look for errors. Errors have red in the left hand column."

"Look for errors that say app hang, or app crash, or anything related to the problem. When you find them note the event ID and source codes and look them up in google. "


Or if you cannot boot even to the POST beep test, I would probably follow a troubleshooting list like..

First unplug all peripheral junk ( USB Drives, Printer, everything but mouse keyboard)
I know its silly but have you checked the PSU cables? are they both; 24 and 8, connected?
Have you made any recent system changes, like a new CPU, or RAM?
PSU unplugged
RAM removed and properly reseated?
CPU removed carefully reseated and Heatsink re-atached.
PSU plugged in and power on?

everything works except that i cant access the bios, windows boots and i did all those before posting this

OK, all you need to do is click start and type eventvwr in the search window..

Do you see any critical, errors, or warnings in the middle window?

With Event Viewer (local) as the highlighted selection.

yes 3 errors
sources wmi 4 errors , disk 2 errors, cap12 54 errors

Hi again... theCAP12 errors there is a fix for WIN7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2328240 Just hit the FIX IT button at the bottom.

For the Disk errors you can run chkdsk.

Open the "Computer" window
Right-click on the drive in question
Select the "Tools" tab
In the Error-checking area, click <Check Now>.

Not sure how these problems would relate to your BIOS issue though. Anyway its good to learn eh? 😉

well ends up the video card wasn't in all the way. the card could could boot in to windows so i didnt think it was the card but i reinserted it ans i could use the bios but thanks for the support
