I want to play Final Fantasy XIV. I’m upgrading my low profile pcie graphics card. I need some advice on what power supply to get. Here’s what I’m working with, and before you make fun of me I realize I could get a faster, newer pc with full size slots, a faster cpu, and a suitable power supply for less than I’ve spent upgrading this one. I don’t want that. I like to max out before a restart. Plus I'm excited about what's coming out in the next few years. I have an old HP dx5150 small form factor that only takes low profile pci/pcie cards. I have one pcie x16 and one pcie x1. I recently purchased a Palit GeForce GTS 450 1 GB LowProFile 128-bit GDDR5 x16 HDCP PCI Express 2.0 Video Card. I’m afraid to put it in with my 200W stock power supply. I need to upgrade, 250W will suffice, but I would prefer 300W. I have heard weird things about HP stock psu’s and apparently it’s hard to upgrade them due to size and maybe a pin configuration issue with the mobo. I’m not interested in an external power supply. I want something that will fit where the old one was. Here is what I currently have:
OS: Windows 7 Pro x64
Processor: AMD ATHLON 64 FX 60 2.6GHz ADAFX60DAA6CD SOCKET 939
HDD: 1TB 3.0 GB/s 7200
Mobo form factor: standard uATX
Chipset: ATI Radeon® Xpress 200M
DVD/CD-ROM drive: – Sony DVD RW DRU-710A Need a Bluray if anybody has a recommendation
3.5 Floppy
Memory: 4-GB DDR Synch DRAM PC3200 (400-MHz) Non ECC
(4 x 1024 DIMM)
Monitors: Asus VE248H Black 24" 1920X1080 2ms Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1 and Asus VG236H 23" 2ms 1920x1080 Full HD 120Hz 3D multimedia WideScreen LCD Monitor w/nVidia 3D Vision Kit 400 cd/m2 100,000:1 (ASCR)
Keyboard/Mouse: Logitech Wireless Illuminated Keyboard K800 and Wireless Performance Mouse MX
Wireless: PCIe 1.0 x1 - wireless n nic (Right now I am barely able to squeeze this in next to my old graphics card – it won’t fit with the new one. I will probably get a PCI one because I don’t trust the USB nic’s – I had a bad experience with Netgear’s WG111v2 with Windows XP and I hate them). Any ideas about a new non-pcie nic that works would be nice.
Graphics card: PCIe 1.0 x16 - Evga GeForce GT 430 1 GB DDR3 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics
Power Supply:
• Part Number :375496-001
• Type: TFX Flex ATX
• Maximum Power: 200 watt
• Input Voltage :115/230VAC, 5/2.5A
• Input Frequency: 47-63 HZ
• Output :+12V 11A, +12V 4.5A, +5V 9A, -12V 0.2A, +3.3V 18A, +5Vsb 2A
• Dimensions: 7.78" x 3.54" x 2.46" - Inch, 197.5L x 90W x 62.5H mm
• Connectors: 1x 24 pin ATX connector, 1x ATX12V connector, 2x Serial ATA connectors, 2x peripheral power connectors, and 1x floppy drive connector
I’m replacing my GT 430 with the Palit GeForce GTS 450 1 GB LowProFile 128-bit GDDR5 x16 HDCP PCI Express 2.0 Video Card. I’ve heard the GTS 450 LP has a maximum system power draw of 258.9 watts on a more powerful system than mine. I’m guessing I would need at least a 300w power supply if I ever needed to overclock it. Anybody know of a psu that will work with an HP dx5150sff? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
